17.00 up from South Rihanna side of fence, ruined building on my left and trig S9326 just over a barbie plus electric fence. Very firings to be about to use for first time the longish piece of foam pipe insulation that I brought with me to fall with barbies but now ideal Fi solve this electric fence problem. Gorgeous collection of 18 black and white cows gathered round to watch me press air-dry clay into the flush bracket of the triangulation pillar. Also as a present for me at the Summit right next to a very beautiful beehive shaped caring with lovely yellow lichen on it was a very large parasol mushroom which was 180 mm across one way and 160mm the other way. | vegibagger | 24/08/2022 |
From parking below the ruin of Mifia, by many silage bales. Through the Orkney gate, up tracks to ruin, then right over gates. Up edge of hay field to summit cairn and trig. One easily negotiated barbec and electric fence. Back same way. Then up Merranblo. | Minto | 14/08/2022 |
Echos of Thearlaichdubh! Wish I had read that first, the electric fences got me too!!! | tim747 | 07/08/2022 |
Large round well built cairn by trig with a maze of bw fences and electric fences at grassy field junctions. From track to south on E side of fence. Miffia farm is a ruin. From Merranblo on own. Grey and rainy . | Denise | 06/08/2022 |
A shocker. Squeezed in at Miffia road end, though cattle grid 20m away would be better. Went up righthand field. Mistake. Really powerful double electric fence guarding trig and cairn knocked me off my feet. Straight down to ruin. | Thearlaichdubh | 22/09/2021 |
Parked at the end of the road near Miffia at HY2386 1292. Unhooked the barbed wire loop on the barbed wire 'gate', then up the field past the ruin to the summit. Glad the curious cows were in the next field. | LizH | 31/08/2021 |

3 of 3: After Vestra Fiold. Parked at the road end by the cattle grid. Karen decided not to attempt crossing the electric fence. I went up the field to the east of the ruin. Up and down in 15 mins. Then for the 4.45pm ferry from Stromness. Loud blast as we stopped at the COOP!? We were the last of only 6 cars. Left early at 4.30pm. | ChrisR | 10/08/2020 |
Parking area to south of ruin, track leads to gate and field with HP, fence to get to Trig. | PeterD | 30/06/2019 |
A nice walk from a parking area below Miffia. The Orkney gate can be easily unhitched to get into the field then a proper gate to the ruin. The lintel of the ruined barn is made from ship's timber infested with shipworms. Easy walking up the hill to the fenced off cairn and the trig behind a further fence. Bagged the high point, but I don't bag trigs. | Gill | 25/02/2019 |
Good parking at HY 2386 1293. Up past the ruins to trig and hill top. Tricky b/w / electric fence to hop over for the trig. | jonglew | 25/02/2019 |
From the NE initially on farm track then through fields of grazing cows and pasture. Dry cloud blowing over the summit topped by shapely cairn next to trig pillar. | RichardM | 27/07/2018 |
A quick walk from nr the ruin. Electric fences, barbed wire, frisky cattle and a bull made it a bit more exciting. Bryher was left in the van! | jenx | 24/07/2018 |

Walked up past ruined cottage and followed fence line. Once within 10m of trig the fun started, trig in cow field with electric and two barbed wire fence in between. Tested electric fence ouchies it was on. Down hill to gate, metal and Orkney gate (fence posts tied together with barbed wire and tensioned to posts by either rope or worse a loop of barbed wire). Opened Orkney gate, climbed other gate and made my way up to trig point. It was surrounded by a muddy deep swamp. Only way to hug it without a mud bath was to traverse along barbed wire fence holding on and lending backwards, not easy! Back via same route. | thejackrustles | 23/09/2017 |

Parked just below Maffia ruin. Took same route up as Eddie but didn't have his nail issue. Getting over the electric fence and barbed wires to touch summit was fun. | assynt_bob | 16/04/2017 |
Over the electric fence at the gate to the lane below Miffia ruin and over the electric fence and barbed wire to stand on the highest point where a 3cm nail penetrated right through the sole of a trainer and lost some skin. | Eddie | 09/03/2017 |

Parked at HY23828 12881. Past the ruins and followed fence. The amount of wire at summit made me wonder if this was hill of the Mafia. Good views of Hoy hills and cliffs. | Martin R | 12/05/2012 |
