13 miles 1524ft walk, start at Pontsticill Reservoir carpark to Garn Ddu and Darren Fawr (Cfn Cil-Sanws) return by Taff Trail and Torpantau raiway path.stephenbuda30/04/2023
Completed after Garn Ddu. Atmospheric summit. Wet & windy on top so didn't linger long. Back down directly to A470 and walk along road back to layby. Nice circular route to get both tumps in.Gerry the Ranger09/03/2022
Parked in the layby at 00978 11912, up the fp opposite which soon becomes a track before emerging onto higher ground where there are various paths going the right direction to the top of Garn Ddu. From there pretty much straight across to Cefn-Cil Sanws with not much path on offer. Descended to the road for a mile walk along the A470. 4.5m 1h 45.clivevilla21/06/2021

From Garn Ddu. Rough tussocks ground before easier pasture like terrain. An abundance of shake holes. Walked a long way north on descent to avoid walking along the busy main road in wet conditions. Arrived back at Feddw lay by for coffee and Welsh cakes from the greasy spoon. Merthyr completed.Campbell Singer04/04/2018
From Garn Ddu. Descent back to parking at Feds. Raced Dad to the top but he won due to knowing there was a duplicate summit. Drat.Jemma Singer04/04/2018
Parked at end of Crabtree Walk in Trefechan. Up through golf course to open access land. Tricky differentiating between 460m and 461m spot heights. Oddly, trig pillar and much large shelter cairn at the 460m point - made it look higher.jonglew08/09/2016
From Cefn Coed-y-cymmer, through golf course then along sheep tracks to summit.Tony J13/08/2016
From Garn Ddu following sheep tracks. Good views from top with Trig and Cairn, sign at top calling it Darren FawrPeterD31/07/2016

A mizzly morning with poor visibility. I was in the area shadowing DoE kids. In a break in activities another leader offered to teach me some navigating skills. I said yes, as long as it ended up at this trig point! We parked in the golf club car park to the south and initially headed up the bridleway then over stile onto open moorland with lots of ferns. A large shelter for a small hill adorns the top next to the trig.Father Ted17/07/2012
