Day six of Dragons Back Raceemily09/09/2023
Second hill on a long horsehoe above Bargod Taf valley. From Merthyr Vale station, up via Mynydd y Capel/Cefn Merthyr. Along the rige, taking in a fine selection of quite obscure Bronze Age cairns along the route. Great views on a lovely day. From here I carried on north all the way down to the minor road, then an unpleasant interlude along the quarry road east (wasn't expecting it to be so busy) before climbing Mynydd Fochriw and up to Pen Garnbugail and Gelligaer Common.thesweetcheat26/03/2022
Parked to north at 07357 05670. Fly tipping all cleared up now so quite a pleasant 3.5 mile round trip walk almost all on paved road. The road is blocked off at the end so there were no vehicles.clivevilla22/11/2021

from n via staggering amount of fly tipping fresh loads to drive around when got back to car continued to Cefn Merthyr then backunderhill13/06/2020
As below, much filthy fly-tipping - such a shame. Nice hill otherwise.kasharic17/10/2018
From the road leading to Bryn Caerau. Fly tipping of epic proportions. Quite staggering that idiots do this on such a scale. Despite this, not a bad hill.Campbell Singer03/04/2018
Sickening fly tipping. Asbestos roofing, argon arc welding cylinder, wheels & tyres & huge amount of building rubbish.ngthack25/07/2017
From the N. Walked on to the south top as has same height; GPS gave me 1m higher here. Fly tipping is ruining the place.jonglew09/12/2016
From South after Cefn Merthyr. Walked from cattle grid, although Tarmac close to summit. Spot height at 445m appears to be true summit and higher than pillar to the North. Visited both. Good views, Shame about fly tipping and trail bikes.PeterD29/05/2016
Park in lane just off A4054 and walked over Merthyr common following track. Driveable with care.Ramblingpaul09/10/2015
North top has a survey pillar on it (probably coal related). Spot height to south also visited. Walked from north along farm track which is drivable. The fly tippers have ruined this area and off road vehicles are also adding to the unpleasantness. There are a lot of scum about.Dusty10/05/2015
4/7 drive up as far as cattle grid, road deteriorates after this. Than walk along road till obvious top is visible, again great viewsFergalh08/01/2015
