Linear hike following the Taff Trail- Pen Twyn Isaf-forestry - Pant Sychbant (where you pass by Ogof Fawr situated in a large shakehole) - Mynydd y Glog. Parking: Layby south-east of Llwyn Onn Reservoir | manilena | 05/07/2023 |
9 mile run loop with Pauline from small car park just off A470 at SO 022085 .. Penmoelallt and Mynydd y Glog .. lovely forest loop … used the track that leaves forest at SN 989091 .. hard work from there to trig and back … even after a drought the ground was boggy with some dodgy water filled mini sink holes .. Pauline went down one up to her waist so need to take care nice trig tho and cracking views | milejunkie | 20/08/2022 |
A bit of an epic. Thick hill fog and drizzle plus poor underfoot conditions meant that this took 2.5 hours from the top of the minor road to the north. Ogof Fawr (Big cave) was interesting but marsh and molinia made for hard work. Abandoned plans for Penmoelallt. | Rob Rees | 08/11/2021 |
Parked at Penderyn and approached via the Open Access land to what seems a pretty remote spot. Headed east after visiting the trig point and into the forest. | Father Ted | 04/04/2021 |

from penmoelallt tracks and old track/path starting 99321 09055 then accross open land hard to get back tracks on map overgrown | underhill | 05/07/2020 |
Moel Penderyn, Gwaun Cefnygarreg, Cadair Fawr, Mynydd Y Glog | Chris Williams | 25/01/2020 |
Parked on the wide grass verge just to NE of Wernlas. Noisy reception from two dogs who thought I was a sheep. Through farmyard, over ford and then onto grassy hill with limestone outcrops. | Campbell Singer | 30/08/2019 |
From Penmoelallt. Not easy to get out of the forest as tracks are overgrown. Once out the going was very rough, although a track was eventually found. At least ground was dry as would have been much worse if wet. Good views from Trig. Would not recommend my route. | PeterD | 22/07/2018 |
Walked up from Wernlas farm following ill defined footpath. High point is stone cairn at SN 98166 08874 | Ramblingpaul | 20/10/2015 |
Rough, open, marshy ground for the most part. No paths made it heavy going; plus 3 b/w fences to negotiate. From minor road S of Nant-hir Resr, to Nant-moel Resr, then cross-country to the trig and hill summit. Persevered on into Penmoelallt forest - no satisfactory conclusion there. Not to be recommended from this direction. Up side was the 3 benchmarks at start of the walk. | jonglew | 13/04/2014 |
Walked from hirwaun using the footpath to the nant-moel reservior, the path was quite boggy in places. Their was no defined footpath to the summit which involved a tough walk through uneven ground, l,m sur their must be an easier route.
Trig at SN98192 08820 some large cairns on the summit had a good walk around as per usual for higher spots found one at stone outcrop. Lovely views to the beacons. | hodder | 25/05/2013 |
