Walked over from pt 416m on the A6. Tracks much of the way. | PeteF | 03/06/2023 |
1/3 From Shap Summit, across the rough to Thorny Bank then back to the nearby Stone Cairn, heading North West to pick up Bridleway which comes out at A6 slightly East of the quarry. Cross A6 straight up RHS of quarry boundary fence to the summit. Gorgeous light here today, in the sunshine, snow with whips of cloud clearning. Down and up to Hazel bank following a herd of about 100 deer. Mice all over the place in the snow too. Then down East up beside trees and picked up the old rail line back to the car. A lovely snowy round. Frozen ground helps. 4 hours. | nickywood1 | 03/01/2021 |

Parked in Greenholme by the defibrillator. Lovely walk up the public footpath passing the derelict farms on the way to Bretherdale Head. Bagged trig point then easy walk by wall to summit. Back same way. Glorious hot weather. With Alfie. | Dangerous Dave | 14/05/2019 |

After collecting the trig North Side continued to summit following sheep and ATV tracks. Some wobbly walls to avoid, gates available. | nordicstar | 10/01/2017 |
With Jo, followed moorsman, catman and oscarrosie's directions to North Side trig and Thorny Bank. Then continued to Nan Hill, bridleway to Ewelock Bank and back along road to start. Weather; cloudy with sunny intervals, warm, good visibility. | amblerbob | 21/08/2016 |
Easy parking to the east where the unmetalled road crosses the Greenholme road (alt 912ft). Then, just follow the wall. Tip (strongly advised). In order to avoid crossing a barbed wire fence and a fairly high wall, pass through the gate on the left shortly after passing the trig. This leads through a field missing the fence and wall. Cross back through a gate after the second wall. 2.21 miles return. 420ft ascent. 60 mins. Quite a straightforward walk after the first 200m. | moorsman | 02/03/2016 |
A pleasant outing from road to south-east(where bridleway crosses).Initially a tad moist, but follow wall up and a vehicle track becomes clear. After trig, take gate on left and follow wall on right to further gate. Then easily up to summit with good views. With Oscar. | catman | 20/10/2015 |

Straight up from minor road to south east bagging the trig along the way. Just follow the wall. | Alan Caine | 18/07/2015 |
Pleasant hill? Nice little walk? From Shap summit took direct line to the hill with several summits. Rough going - bog, deep moss and tussocks most of the way. Then reversed it. Well earned tick I'd say! | Aye Jimmy | 14/05/2015 |
