There's a high gate at the start of the track but it's easily opened. Track then pasture to obvious topColin Crawford21/02/2020
The hardest part is locating the start of the path at Harrot Hill Farm. There is a bridlegate deep in the hedge just after the impressive farm fortifications. This is followed by a series of small gates hidden in a passage between the farm buildings. From then on a clear track leads to the small valley between the summit and an adjacent hill. Summit not actually visible until you are almost on it. No time saved by shortcutting across the field. 2.63km return, took me just under an hour.moorsman16/10/2019
Good wandering with Bryher and Rickjenx09/02/2019

Easy walk through pasture that is typical of north Lakes outliers.Wycombe Wanderer18/08/2018
A short jaunt up from minor road to NW. On to Embleton, then return as blizzard conditions and wind brutal.jonglew01/03/2018
In crisp snow and sunshine from Harrot Hill Farm taking in Embleton High Common, Kirk Fell (Lorton), Graystones (both tops) and Harrot.milimana07/02/2018
From the footpath on the way to Kirk Fell. Farmer was happy to let us go, as long as we kept away from pregnent ewes.Moorponder29/12/2017

Parked on verge above Jenkin farm. Through gate following faint track through another gate by wood and open fell to Embleton High Common (Synge w good view). Down to damp col and easily up Harrot to gain top amongst sheep. View down Lorton Vale and Cockermouth pleasant. Back down to conifer wood and contoured hill back to start at 200m in 30minsnordicstar18/12/2016
Unaware of Harrot when doing Birketts & Synges or no doubt this would have been nicely scooped up on a tour over these grassy tops then. Today during Ullock stay took Fp from NW with L on a lovely sunny windy day with cumulus clouds and their shadows scudding across the fells- this is a good and unusual viewpoint e.g Mellbreak in sunlight and shadows looking impressive as ever. Continued over Greystones tops to Broom Fell then descent N over Burthwaite Heights and pastures down to road through gates to avoid Wythop swamp. lovely green lane skirting under Link Fell and blackberries -then shopping in Cockermouth and back to take Molly the dog for a short walk at Ullock (sadly too slow / reluctant to join us on the fells).Chris Pearson26/08/2016

Public f/p from NW through farmyard used for Harrot and Embleton, parking at bend and bridge. Farmyard busy with cow activities on return, gates all closed, awkward detour through trees by beck.Aye Jimmy22/07/2015
