7th and final hill of a 19km circuit from Irton Pike car park. Continuation from Bleatarn Hill, descending West to Blake bank, following good forestry road to Porterthwaite continuing on track to just NE of Crabtree Dale Wood where the footpath was followed out to the road. Getting dark now so had use of a torch. A short distance along the road and went over gate and climbed up to this lovely top. Descent over a bank and fence using gate in corner of field to gain access to the road again and then followed it round to the start. A short drive to my digs at the Bower House Inn for an enjoyable meal... | Dazingdale | 16/03/2024 |
Evening stroll from Bowerhouse Inn. | russell61 | 11/07/2022 |
Initially up Irton Pike, having parked in the old quarry below. Then along the ridge to Irton Fell, then taking a cross country route to Great Bank. Descent from here along the forest road (much damage from Storm Arwen), and back along the tarmac road, taking a short detour over the gate to the top of Plumgarth Hill on the way to the quarry car park. 10km with 460m ascent in 3 hours. Pleasant little hill as described elsewhere. Overcast and dull day, limited views. How many times I've been past this hill and never given it a second thought. Thanks for keeping this site up. | Karmakarl | 11/01/2021 |
Up from the road, through black painted gate, straight up and down in 15 minutes. Pleasant little hill. Parked half a mile further along road at the small parking area by forest (to NW) | nickywood1 | 15/08/2020 |
