Logged Descriptions  (logged by 36 users)ByDate of Ascent
2nd hill of the day and 1st of a 3 tump circular from Roadside verge parking next to NE side of Greengate wood. Climbed over fence and nice walk through woodland and then used breach in wall caused by a tree to access open fell. Walked alongside wall and then direct up to the top. Nice area although quite marshy in places. Continuation to Orchard Hill...Dazingdale16/03/2024
Foolishly attempted this after Orchard Hill going over a gate off the path back to the road so came at this diagonally from SW. Head high bracken and brambles. Much easier to stick to as near to the wall coming from the east which is the way I went back to the road.benarbia_820/07/2023
Good parking at 113023. The track through the gate leads uphill to the right. The wall is easily breached under the netting. 15 minute solo.bolton29/12/2020
1/2 Parked opposite gate into NT woodland, worked way through woodland heading slightly to right from gate on a track, over wall at a low gap and up to summit in tussocks. Return to car area then along road, to pick up walled footpath track and followed instructions about deer gates to reach Orchard Hill (good instructions re the deer gates do use these folks).nickywood115/08/2020
Easy parking at start of path into the woods. Open access so free to roam at will. Walked all the way though the woods on a good track which led out onto the moor. From here it is a short, unhindered walk to the summit. About 25 minutes returnmoorsman09/05/2019
With Tali, out from Nether Wasdale.Mountain Goat23/02/2019
Room for several cars both sides of road at a gate into woodland (NY 1138 0226). Stone wall with wire atop to be negotiated.jonglew09/12/2018
Got there just in time to see the Wasdale fells illuminated by the evening sun. Sat and drank in nature's wondrous bounty.Wycombe Wanderer30/09/2018
P by RoW. Along RoW to gate then SW to top.chrisbien23/06/2018
From roadside parking and gate into woods as described by others. Jenx and Bryher followed later, wall has a weak point to North of woodland 'top'. Good views on a dreek day, fine granite plugs. Final top in Wasdale areanordicstar06/12/2017
Nice woodland scamper for Bryher.jenx06/12/2017
Parish Crag [Greengate Wood] from GR:NY 11380 02256ronaldo33327/10/2017
Great tranquil summit. Accessed via gate thru wood then over tricky (high) stone wall.John Eley06/08/2016
From gated entrance to Greengate Wood (NT). Head N initially for 100m before ascending more steeply WNW.jimbloomer16/05/2016
As Aye Jimmy (only two days later). RHW's hole has been repaired so wall has to be climbed. There are three other 100m contour rings in the vicinity but all can be safely discounted due to 111.55m (366ft) spot height at the cairn on old OS map.David Gradwell27/08/2015
From large layby and gate into wood from SE, and sign: 'NT Greengate Wood Conservation area, created after great storm 8th Jan 2005'. Green track, then over wall to summit area, short section of head high bracken and thistles to cairn. Nothing round about looked higher.Aye Jimmy25/08/2015
