Took bus from Castlebay to the Cleat junction then walked up road to the beach. A very short scramble up the rocks from the far end of the beach to an obvious cliff-top path takes you round the crags to an easy direct grassy ascent to the summit from by a circular rocky ruin. Much nicer route than a direct ascent from the phone box.prwild20/06/2023
Barra/Varersay west coast Marilyns and Humps. 1 of 5thekirkie pirate20/06/2023
Up from the quarry.robertphillips18/06/2023
Bike from Castlebay, walking from phone box at NF672042, heading roughly E to a fence then start of slopes, then zigzagging up past rock walls to summit, descended more S at first, turning W and descending a long ramp below a rock wall, reaching a fence corner with old gate (ca NF675040), followed old stone wall back to road and thence start (1h20m, including time at the top watching a plane land at the beach airport)kdbennett18/06/2023
From phone box by cattle grid, steep ascent eased at top with rock slabs. Steep descent, then drive to beach at road head for sandwiches.cjo18/06/2023
Round of Barra Marilyns by hired bike on a nice sunny day. Direct ish ascent with some good but hard scrambling.davechaffey18/06/2023
From telephone box. Very pleasant ascent through and over slabs. Descent via the reentrant to the north where there is a recent landslip.fasgadh17/06/2023
From parking at quarry/scrap yard entrance with permission. Easily up the south ridge, onto Beinn Eireabhal to watch the planes land/leave. Dave/JillN.Morters15/06/2023
Parked outside working quarry (with permission) to south of hill. Clockwise horseshoe of Beinn Chliad & Beinn Eireabhal. With Jill & Nigel.Dangerous Dave15/06/2023
Beinn Chliad & Beinn Eireabhal from the airport CP, taking an anti-clockwise route that meant we could see a plane landing and taking off from the northern flank of Beinn Eireabhal. Very dry ground, very hot and humid conditions. Superb vistas.summitter12/06/2023
From the phone box on the Cliad road, lots of grass to park on. Straight up a small valley to the north. Midges, overcast but a great viewpoint.iangalbraith08/09/2021
Up southeast ridge from the bridge, over no barbed wire fences.Pete R07/06/2019
Much more relaxed making my way up here today than on Wednesday. Had all the time I wanted to stop and do some filming and just fully absorb the wonderful view over all the islands.Twice Shy10/08/2018
Traverse from C an Fhitich over 7 barbed wire fences. Fine Marilyn.Thearlaichdubh09/08/2018
A bus walk from Cleit road end. Up to the high point of the road, and over a gate just past the house. Over the BWF at a ruined stile, then up a nice gully N of the summit. A little animal track to the fine rocky summit. Splendid views. Down the SW ridge to the road just W of the quarry. Back to Castlebay over the main ridge running along the centre of Barra, over various tumps and Heabhal. A very fine walk in all.Gill08/08/2018
Pacey dash to fit in this and get back down to the car whilst Adrian bagged the hill to the west. Gorgeous part of the Western Isles.Alex C08/08/2018
Parked near cattle grid on the community road to the west of this hill. Climbed and back in 45 mins or so. Then drove down to the beach and took smashing photos of the hill. Lovely end to our one day whistly stop tour of Barra - would have stayed longer but the place is fully booked and it's time to book for next year apparently - crazy popular in May and June!nickywood107/06/2018
Super hill - approach from W, where hill looks like Pap of Glencoe. Lots of rock - some scrambling.ger22/05/2018
From Cleat Road.NormanW21/05/2018
Good parking near to the old phone box. 45 minute walk and climb up the steep slope with CM.bolton20/05/2018

From just before the cattle grid, about NF672043 via the point where stream and fence cross; through bog & then straight up.m0jla27/04/2018
From junction of minor roads to SW across boggy ground and usual barbed wire fences. Then onto airport via Beinn Eireabhal and bus back to Castlebay. 2 golden eaglestrimarc213/10/2017
From minor road to W, nice steep ascent. Chance meeting with Carole Engel at summit and walked on to Beinn Eireabhal.jonglew14/08/2017
Quick up and down from the west but beware the nasty bog just below the house!AndrewFinnimore30/06/2017

With Jenx and Bob K, from Cleat hamlet. Through wet area then straight up hill, great scrambling. Superb top.nordicstar07/07/2014
A repeat visit - someone has to show Doug the right way to these things. Worth it for the view and the sound of the waves crashing below.Martin R07/05/2014
A lovely coastal Marilyn on a sunny afternoon with great coastal views with Martin Richardson as guide.Dugswell207/05/2014

From minor road to West, parking at phone box, go along the road and cross the fields, 2 gates leading to a stile. That will avoid the man-eating bog on the direct line. Very wet, very windy, if there is a nice view I didn’t see it!tim74704/05/2014

With Arran over 1 gate and through another over sheep pasture 700' up into wide grassy gully to left of crags to highest boulders. 9.45.arranc02/06/2001
A solo rapid ascent before the highlight of our trip - the BA flight back to Glasgow on the small Islander plane from the beach runway which only appeared once the tide went out. Our bikes were dismantled and squeezed in as cargo. Good old Air Miles - although flight at 10,000 feet across top of cumulus clouds was very bumpy -with one passenger being sick, and views out front through open cockpit.Chris Pearson28/05/2001
