O: 1] Grassy embankment to the S is clearly higher, but man-made. 2] 54m spot height on Geograph at NY 12541 47202 within quarry would have been higher, but appears to have been quarried away

As others - from lane to NCrib Goch07/12/2019
Drove up to entrance to Sand Pit, then up laneGordonAdshead09/11/2019
Good road leading to quarry entrance with a single parking place before the entrance gate. Passed the farmer in his tractor as I walked along the continuation of the lane. Gave me a cheery wave. The grassy area appears lower than the field corner .... until you go to the field corner when the field is obviously higher.moorsman18/10/2019
Drove up to lane end (NY 12455 47315), then up the fieldDC11main14/09/2019
Parked north of Overby and walked up track past working quarryMark Sims24/04/2019
Wrapped up like a Bedouin tribesman against the sun. Lots of yellow flowers everywhere. West Cumbria is beautiful on a nice day and reminds me of Wales.Wycombe Wanderer21/04/2019
As others, luckily no cows today.Bramley23/10/2018

As others, drove part way along quarry access road and parked up at the old entrance (NY 1220 4693). Walked past the current quarry entrance and onto a farm track (this is driveable, even in today's very wet conditions). Through a field gate and into a cattle pasture complete with cattle, feisty buggers they were too; couldn't turn my back on them. Only redeeming feature was the views across the firth to D&G.jonglew14/12/2017
Walked up lane past the quarry. Hung about a while before summiting waiting for lively bullocks to move off downhill!Dangerous Dave11/12/2017

Parked at old entrance to quarry to SW at NY 12357 47097. The entrance is now blocked off and no longer used so there is no problem with quarry workmen regardless of day of week. From entrance walked up lane for c200m to gate then strolled up to hedgebank corner at NY 12513 47281. Also visited higher manmade partially grassed over mound 35m south at NY 12504 47246.David Gradwell23/08/2015

Saturday pm, no-one about, parked at entrance to Overby Sand Quarry and walked through works. Wind was whipping up the sand, wouldn't like to work there on a really windy day! RH edge of vast slabby face (hard packed mud/sand) followed to gate at top. Over this, barley field with high point in LH corner. Higher over hedge to W at top of quarry but not natural. Over hedge to N another possibility in cow field.Aye Jimmy08/08/2015
