From dodgy parking on the A69 at Gapshield. Boggy wander south west from the trig, visiting all perceptible (and imperceptible) rises. It wouldn't surprise me if the trig actually has the edgeColin Crawford08/01/2024
Parked just before the gate at Grid 65416117. Follow the Pennine Way through the gate then along to Greenriggs. Go through the gate, chickens and ducks everywhere, over the stile and on to the open moor land. Continue on, lots of different paths to the Trig point then back to the Highest point at Grid 63966317. Return by the fence line to the corner then back along the Pennine Way to the start.smocks and denims06/11/2023

HP a crest of wall near trig. Somewhat bleak boggy moorland after the excitement of Hadrian's Wall. Flushbracket and cutmark on Gapshield farm to N- parking on verge at road junction if wishedDenise 08/03/2022
Feels a long walk in rough grass from the trig. Levelish area, summit crossed by DSW topped with barbed wire. Hard to pick a high point.RichardM08/03/2022
Parked on grass verge to the north just off A69. Then easy up first bagging the trig. Both sides of wall visited to make sure.Alan Caine19/02/2022
From the A69. Parking in lay-by 150m W of where Pennine Way crosses A69. Farm track S to join Pennine Way and followed it to close to TP. Followed wall to HP. Easier terrain on W side of wall.JohnR29/08/2021
Parked at Greenhead Bank. Footpath to A69 blocked by horses. Followed feint fp from A69 SW across sheep fields to join Pennine Way path. Cattle and calves everywhere. Difficult avoiding them and then impossible to get into next field because of them as I had my dog with me. Walked up by wall to wooden gate then got chased by gamekeeper on a quad bike. He wasn’t aware this was Access Land. Walked onto the intact trig and twin hp further southwest by the wall. Couldn’t get back along the PW because of the cows, so I escaped to the A69 down a private farm road that leads to Roman Camp. Tough day! With Alfie.Dangerous Dave25/06/2020
Through Gapshield Farm on RoWs; boggy on the top. ***Re-visited 26 Dec 2022. Progressed on from trig pillar to newly defined summit. Still boggy on the top.jonglew31/05/2019

Parked on the edge of A69 and used Pennine Way path/bogtrot to summit area, definitely a wellie job today. Met farmer at Gapshield tending his Swaledale sheep, complained of the wet weather toonordicstar29/11/2017
Parked in layby on A69 and followed Pennine Way to near Gap Shields Fan where unhappy cattle with calves stopped progress. Retreated to Todholes and took more direct route on west side of boundary wall, which as it happened did have climbable fence and gate where needed! Also visited other 289 spot height.Fisky Boy20/09/2017

Here for the trigpoint with the geocaching YOSM crew, great trip. Parked at the junction opposite the farmhouse and followed the Pennine way track up to the trig.thejackrustles08/06/2016
Same approach as previous logger. Summit plateau in fine fettle after the visit of Storm Desmond and maybe 15 inches of rain in previous fortnight. Went to further summit, good walking for 150m to fenced-off pool, then more of the same.Aye Jimmy15/12/2015
Parked in layby on A69 where the Pennine Way crosses. Walked along, and finally swum along Pennine Way with a deviation at the end to trig.Jacqdaw01/11/2015

Boggy going -got boot full of peaty ooze. 6 mile of Hadrian's Wall followed after Mark detoured to phone box to phone his Uni tutor about an exam re-sit? Sept 2020 -hill unticked following revision to slightly higher summit 370m to SW -unfortunately not crossed when walking the Pennine Way 36 years agoChris Pearson25/09/1984

With Keith when doing the Pennine Way. Another hill which I may or may not have gone to the top but definitely went through its contour ring. That counts for me.Alan Moore09/05/1978
