1/4 Hameldon from Widdop Reservoir car park. Used the same route as Gerry and Gordon. Nice walk but thick mist on top. 5.5km taking 1h 30m. | silveracorn_alan | 28/01/2023 |
Done in the morning before the day got too hot. With Judy. Quite pleased to manage 5km on crutches. As GerryB, followed ATV track to post 40m from fence line. I feel sure this is higher than the spot height on the map. | GordonAdshead | 16/07/2022 |
Couldn't find any car park . Walked south above reservoir on Burnley Way then continued right and found ATV route to top. | Mark Sims | 12/08/2021 |
Along bridle way from Widdop reservoir car park. Then across pathless moorland to summit. | Arbie | 01/06/2021 |
We also started from the layby on bridge on The Long Causeway at the Lancashire/Calderdale boundary stone. Beautiful spring day with blue skies. Black Hambledon and Hambledon. | Lazylizzie | 03/04/2021 |
Widdop Reservoir Car Park at SD 9376 3278 - Steady climb up Pennine Bridleway to 'crossroads' & fingerpost at 923321 - Turned right & NW along ATV track to unmarked summit which lies W. of the track. (S) | gerrybowes | 09/11/2020 |

After Boulsworth Hill. From layby at SD91487 33775 ascended the hill due South until we hit a fence line. Followed this in moonlight with a small diversion to the summit. Seemed boggy in places + no paths. With Mart. | John Eley | 31/08/2020 |

Continued on from Hoof Stones Height over Black Hamledon ridge and past Hare Stones. Ascent from west side of Gorple Stones. Thick 2ft wooden stake about 20m from ‘summit’. | Nick Caunt | 30/04/2019 |
From the layby to N of the 389m spot height, Lad Law, then mostly following the boundary stones across to Withins Height (both tops because I forgot which was the right one!) From there back down past the reservoirs and up the road, stopping off for Hameldon on the way to the car. First real walk of 2019 so it felt a lot longer than expected... Except for a few small patches the moors seemed surprisingly dry, I wouldn't like to try this route after heavy rain though! | the_adam | 13/04/2019 |

From the North after Boulsworth hill, found intermittent quad tracks on way up, but good ATV track on way back down. A choice of grassy hummocks for the HP. | PeterD | 11/05/2018 |
Solo. Hoof Stones Height & Hambledon. Parked on The Long Causeway at the Lancashire/Calderdale boundary in the lay-by between ‘Lancashire welcomes careful drivers’ & ‘Welcome to Calderdale’! Followed boundary fence between summits. Grotty underfoot. | ADT | 28/04/2018 |
Bitterly cold ascent after Boulsworth Hill over rough, tussocky, luckily frozen, ground. We found some tracks which eased our route. Arrived just as a red ball of sun slipped below nearby hills, causing heather to glow red. No distinctive feature at summit- grassy hummock within heather, moss and peat hags with frozen puddles. Definitely a connoisseur's hill! | Denise | 24/02/2018 |
From high point of road to N initially over rough grass but quickly finding good ATV track to summit plateau. Ground frozen. Arrive just in time to watch sunset. Bitterly cold | RichardM | 24/02/2018 |
From the Widdop Reservoir car park. Delightful walk for January. Follow the fp to the signed crossroads and then go north along adequate quad track to the top. | Campbell Singer | 30/01/2018 |
From Hoof Stones Height over Black Hameldon following boundary fence. Boggy on both sides. Wet feet again | Longwojo | 06/01/2018 |

2nd hill of 5 today and an anticlimax from the preceding moorland features. Started At Cornholme & climbed to minor road (cycle route 68) then track to the Wolf stones, Hoof Stones Height, following the Boundary past Black Hameldon, the Hare Stones and the wonderful Gorples Stones (beautiful views) before arriving at this flat summit, visited said grid reference but seemed as high close to boundary stone. Onwards to Lad Law-Boulsworth Hill. | Dazingdale | 18/02/2017 |
Hameldon | keithouk | 04/12/2016 |
Worsthorne to Hebden Bridge via Wasnop Edge, Hameldon and Standing Stones Hill. Clear day but wet underfoot, particularly paths on Heptonstall Moor. Got very rudely accosted by a pair of gamekeepers who took great issue with me taking a photo that included them in, albeit at a distance. | Jake994 | 24/11/2016 |

Run with Liam | richardsun | 20/12/2015 |
Restricted parking available at the summit of the Colne to Hebden Bridge road (alt 1299 ft). Make sure that you pick up the good path from the south side of the road as this leads directly to the summit. After crossing the small river the path stays about 50m to the east on the drier ground. Follow this and it is an easy walk, miss it and you plough through tussocky heather. 2 miles return .... about an hour. | moorsman | 11/06/2015 |
With Jo, from Widdop Reservoir cp: PBW to SD 92282 32121, then track (not shown on map) to Hameldon, then rights of way to Heptonstall Moor Trig, returning by PBW. Weather; sunny, cool breeze, good visibility. | amblerbob | 26/04/2015 |

An easy walk up from the road | bardolph | 04/02/2014 |
Hameldon summit view towards boundary fence and boundary stone. The moorland summit is relatively flat for this 467 metre and P75 hill. My GPS gave SD 91915 32491 for this top. Picture on Geograph. | Dugswell2 | 07/04/2013 |
From the lonely road to the north. Nearby is the grit crag of Widdop which offers grit climbs of all grades including the wonderfully named (given its location) Reservoir Dogs at a mighty E8 7a. Been there once in? 1986? with cousin Mark (from Blackburn)-rained off. | Chris Pearson | 03/09/2011 |
From ‘Limestone Trail’ carpark by minor road near Coal Clough Wind Farm SD 89385 28850. Circular walk - Hoof Stones Height - Hameldon - Hurstwood Reservoir - Cant Clough Reservoir. (I think I was bagging reservoirs too in 2004!) | David Gradwell | 28/12/2004 |
