Bike from Fairholmes then up to Alport Castle from Westend - nice scramble up NW ridge - with odd steep avoidable steps. Steeply down E side. Lovely bright day. On to Upper Hey via the Cutgate route. Lovely cold bright day. May have done 40 or so years ago but can't be sure. | steveb2006 | 07/03/2023 |

Climbed the south flank; steep grassy ascent. | Vulcan | 24/08/2022 |
Followed route in Hills of The Peak District by Barry Smith.
Parked at Howden Reservoir then took waymarked path through woods and then to the edge of moor. Turned left there and after a few hundred metres there is a good path down to the castles. Exciting on a windy day. | KevPalmer | 25/07/2022 |

Roadside parking to NE (SK 1547 9281), room for a few cars. RoW to Alport Castles. Turned right (NW) at the escarpment and found a way down a narrow and steep gulley. Up the Tower from the NW (marginally scrambly in one place only), down and headed SE over some remarkably rugged and broken ground to regain the escarpment and the track back to car. 6k. | jonglew | 23/11/2021 |
From lay-by W of Alport Bridge on A57. The Tower, Alport Moor, Bleaklow Head and Higher Shelf Stones included before roughly following road back using permissive paths and footpaths. Good walking, even the parts tracing the road. | welshyboyo | 04/07/2021 |

08:00, 4 degrees rising to 13, light cloud then sunny, very light NE breeze, with Bag For Life. Via Ditch Clough Plantation, Alport Castles and NW ridge. Very fine summit in impressive area by Derbyshire standards. Ate Etorki sandwiches for brunch then headed for Alport Moor. | Wycombe Wanderer | 24/04/2021 |

Walked up from Fairholmes car park at Derwent Reservoir. Interesting hill to get to, never mind climb! We found an easy way up from the NW. Excellent little peak. With Mark & Éire. | Dangerous Dave | 08/06/2020 |
Left a car by the A57 at Ladybower then drove to SK154927. Good track then path to Alport Castles. Headed NW along edge until easy to descend, then traversed up NW ridge and down SE gully. Back to high ground and over 2 more Tumps on the way to the A57. | mae2 | 06/03/2020 |

Snowy ascent on crisp winter's day. As we picked our way over the snowy landslide blocks in the small valley, we wondered if we were here on the wrong day- but it was a delightful scramble and with Kahtoola spikes we could stand on top of both towers- the southern one is slightly higher, we thought.Memorable and recommended little hill. | Denise | 30/01/2019 |
Most enjoyable in the fine winter conditions. | RichardM | 30/01/2019 |

With Sheffield Mountaineering. From Birchin Clough Bridge car park on the A57. A lot of fog on the way back and finished in darkness, but some sun and blue skies earlier. A nice scramble with the group. | Lazylizzie | 04/11/2018 |
