After there, we dropped down to Rivington Road, the on to Sharples Higher End, and Great Hill. We then dropped down to Anglezark, Yarrow and Upper Rivington Resevoir, then finished off with a pint at The Rivington. Bethany. 4h40min: 19km; 550m.ByronHaywood06/04/2019

Blizzards forecast for tomorrow but walked today in freezing sunshine. Good stone slab and frozen mud path. Even the moorland top was solid. Could be dreary on a bad day but delightful today with huge views.Campbell Singer26/02/2018
5th tump of 7 today plus 1 boundary, climbing Haigh Hill, Blackrod, Roscowe Lowe Hill, Winter Hill boundary (Blackburn with Darwen current Co. top)and Winter Hill, carrying on to last transmission tower then dropping down steep bank, made even more slippery by snow and wet rocks, following boggy track beside rocky fenceline to road then on really nice path with flagstones laid in several stretches. I veered off to search for cairn, wandering around in circles for 10 minutes then checking other logs on my phone only to find that other people could not find it. Beautiful crepuscular rays in yonder distance. I got the 392m reading on my gps so was satisfied. I carried on this path for another 1/4 mile before veering off through rough terrain NE to Adam's dell to pick up track leading to Belmont road heading for Cartridge Hill....Dazingdale25/11/2017
very wet and boggy off the paths unable to find summit cairn walk with WFPmy-list07/10/2017

One of the 12 summits visited on 'Coope's Dozen' - an 18 mile run visiting 12 of the 13 or 14 summits on the 'Winter Hill Massif'. 9th ascent. Disappointing to find the cairn removed again.IWC29/07/2017
Solo linear walk Blackrod to Cherry Tree - many stone blocks so going relatively easy hereabouts. Expansive views to Fylde coast, Jubilee Tower prominent too: got to cairn at Great Hill and then via Tockholes to catch train with 30 seconds to spare!JOHNS12/06/2017
Easy walk up from Rivington Road.Bramley03/06/2017
Quick walk from Rivington Road to Great Hill. Sunny but hazy day, could barely see the Fylde coast.fencehugger08/05/2017

Solo. Winter Hill & Spitlers Edge. Searched but couldn't find a summit cairn. Also on 3 Towers Race, 24/10/1993 & 23/10/1994.ADT22/01/2017
20 km 4 tops circuit from Belmont with Darren. Straightforward over Winter Hill then good dry manmade path from road top up to summit. Then all changed with 4km of deep grass hiding large tussocks growing out of watery bog on a murderous link to Turton Moor - a 'double Sub Four' -not even listed on hill bagging. Comical stumbling & slow exhausting progress (just like Elan valley OMM), eased partly by sneaky use of the lovely short grass fields above Bromily farm. D sank entertainingly into a floating mire at one point. Then onto Turton Heights for yet more high quality endless tussocks.Chris Pearson05/11/2016
Very, very easy walk along a maintained path from the summit of the Belmont road (alt 1066 ft). 2.14 miles return 45 minutes, ascent 230 ft.moorsman21/10/2016

Walked from Belmont to Hordern Stoops, then alongside the Chorley/Blackburn with Darwen boundary wall across Spitlers Edge towards Great Hill. Descended roughly along the River Roddlesworth to the reservoirs, and generally along the Witton Weavers Way to Pleasington.lecube28/05/2016
From Horden Stoops with Alf. Plenty of parking. A stone flagged and earth path is being constructed over the bogs.mick20/05/2016

Nice day to finish off a county. From Hordern Stoops - still some wet boggy patches. Naithsmith told me I could get there and back in just over an hour, but with my aging legs and ankle I took over twice this time.GordonAdshead23/05/2015

From Hordern Stoops, a very pleasant walk on springy turf for nearly a mile at gentle angle to small cairn on top. Total contrast to the nearby Turton Heights.Aye Jimmy13/07/2014
Parked at Horden Stoops for a dryish moorland walk to bag this flattish TuMP summit. This walk could be very damp in wet weather.Dugswell206/07/2013
