26 mile clockwise circuit from Weags Bridge using bike between hills. Third hill of 6 - accessed from RoW to SE. Bright sunny day. | steveb2006 | 25/10/2023 |
Parked in small layby at SK 126494 for a circuit of Hazelton Clump and Musden Low. | PGCE | 05/10/2023 |
Started at Ilam, through the Country Park and across a footbridge then along steep ROWs to the derelict Upper Musden. Straight to the top of Musden Low, where a couple of farmers in a landrover enquired about the purpose of our visit. Happy for me to bag the summit and trig then back down to Upper Musden and along a track to the north of Hazelton Clump. A quick up and down before continuing along the track to the Blore Road then followed ROWs back to Ilam. | summitter | 16/05/2022 |
From Musden Low. Enchanted hilltop plantation. Lovely. | Wycombe Wanderer | 30/10/2021 |

Circular walk to Musden Low and Hazelton Clump from small parking at SK 12628 49486 | climbingkershaw | 13/06/2021 |
After doing Musden Low. Made the mistake of taking a shortcut going downhill. Ended up painfully climbing two bwfs and fighting thru hedges and brambles to return to fp. | John Eley | 28/08/2020 |
Parked at 12638 49442, along FP to beyond a gate then straight up pasture to summit of Hazelton Clump. Then across to Musden Low. Close to the summit a farmer was cajoiling a bull back to his land with a land rover and a sheepdog. a couple of mintes later the neighbouring farmer appeared in a 4 x 4 and used some choice language about his neighbour but was OK with me. | clivevilla | 04/06/2020 |
With fam except Evie. Started from CP to W. No problem accessing summit directly as stone walls have gaps. 110m ascent | RoguePulsar | 01/01/2020 |
I was with my family. Easy to get to summit there was gaps in the stone wall. | speedyclimber | 01/01/2020 |
Parked at side of road to SE of hill. Followed RoW NW into fields, and from then straight up into woods. Walls shown on OS map are broken down and so access was easy. Back same way. | Wheelsy | 23/10/2019 |
Made it up before darkness fell | Jack Richards | 28/12/2018 |
1.7 mile there-and-back walk from parking place on road west of Blore, followed footpath around side of Hazelton Clump then across fields and up to Musden Low trig, came back the same way with divert to Hazelton Clump, had to cross fence under barbed wire to access summit, dull and cloudy. Earlier that day re-bagged Thorpe Cloud in a 9.9 mile walk. | DanTrig | 26/12/2018 |
as for Moorponder | arranc | 11/03/2018 |
Initially paths over sheep pasture from Blore Pasture car park (free) then up over derelict limestone walls to summit hill fort ringed by fine Beech trees. Hazy views, cold. | RichardM | 22/02/2018 |
2nd hill of two today, incorporated into a 6.5 mile circular walk from Ilam park with Lesley. We took a route through Musden wood to Calton Green, Upper Green House to Musden Low then by a series of fences but only one climb over a barbed wire fence. I spotted a break in the series of boundary fences guarding the summit. The inside area of trees have been harvested leaving the perimeter trees including the Summit close to the sycamore tree. We had some snacks sitting on one of the fallen branches before braving the cold wind on a beautifully sunny day, descending East to follow track then onto lane before heading NE on fp to another minor lane taking fp down to St. Bertram's bridge and back to the start in Ilam park. | Dazingdale | 07/01/2018 |
Musden Low followed by Hazelton Clump after parking to the SSE of Hazelton Clump with Martin. | Dugswell2 | 04/11/2017 |
As others, from the SE. Along BW, through gate, northwards up side of wall. Over hurdle at the top to get round the wall and BWF that forms the S boundary of the copse. Lovely atmospheric summit, | Moorponder | 23/10/2017 |

1/10 Having finished work early and with another sunny day warming up I reasoned I could get stuck in to the tops around The Manifold valley. I had planned on doing the ten tops as a continuous round but with the weather being so hot I felt I'd not be able to carry enough fluids. So split them up into bite size walks. This top along with Musden Low became the first ones of the day. Parked at start of footpath to South of top. Straightforward enough. No views from the top of course.. | stig_nest | 26/05/2017 |
Afternoon ascent after a nearby orienteering event. | JohnW | 01/03/2017 |
Parking for Hazelton Clump and Musden Low small layby SK 12628 49486. Route as per David Gradwell. | David Evans | 13/02/2017 |
Parking at the start of the footpath to the SE. Follow this alongside the fenceline until the first gate. From here head upwards across a broken wall. Easy walk with no obstacles | moorsman | 20/01/2017 |
Musden Low and Hazelton Clump from SE. | RobertP | 27/11/2016 |

Late Sunday pass out to get out to 2 local hills just over the border in Staffs. Easy from ROW starting just above Blore . Nice views of Dovedale and Manifold Valleys | Mark Sims | 31/07/2016 |
F/p from SE then field leading to large open copse. Summit at W end 5m from hollow tree, fence lying on ground. | Aye Jimmy | 15/03/2016 |
Parked easily at the brow of the hill at 131 494. Path then pasture - probably numerous cows in the season. | destaylor | 04/01/2016 |
Easy open grass pasture from SE to large tree clump.Good views of Thorpe Cloud whose summit can be seen to be same level as the surrounding high valley edges. | Chris Pearson | 26/07/2015 |
Small layby to south at SK 12628 49486. Public footpath to first wall then followed this north up to wooded summit enclosure. Highest point at base of large sycamore at SK 12514 49865. Returned to footpath same way then carried on to Musden Low. | David Gradwell | 29/03/2015 |
From east side, across mined ground and through the trees to hummock. Lovely hill, would have liked to have had time to have a look at the cave on the north side. | DanHolme | 02/01/2015 |
Easy access from FP to east.Tree clump ringed by tenuous two strand fence. Summit obvious hummock at far side of wood. | ngthack | 26/11/2014 |
333M, 3M, fence in beech copse, nice summit. from S, parking, up bank, 1 fence. | RHW | 18/03/2012 |
Easy access from path around the sout side of the hill with one fence to climb. Typical round limestone hill with a coppice and earthworks atop. Gorgeous pastureland walking down to Blore and Ilam. | Jake994 | 04/04/2010 |
