There is a thicket on a linear bank about 10m south of the trig pillar which on my visit felt about 1m higher or so than the current summit spot height of 250m quoted to the east of the trig. Potentially this could reclaim the Tump title from the newer 251m summit location -hill no 19168. Having said that I suspect this high linear bank could be man made, either associated with the old quarrying or maybe part of Maiden Castle fort, so may not reclaim the summit title after all even if higher. The beacon basket location was one of a chain of hill top beacons that in 1588 enabled news that the Spanish Armada had been sighted to travel from the South Coast to York in a reported 12 hours. Presumably this was the only purpose they were lit for.Chris Pearson06/04/2019

Adderley Park to Cellarhead. Edge of quarried area to SSW seemed to be of similar height, but this is now academic since summit redesignation.Smudge05/02/2017
Parked in carpark SJ928452 for both Park Hall Hills. (Old GR) just up and across the road by the beacon and for other top I just followed the northerly edge of the country park to the bench. With Julie and Polly the dog.David Evans05/11/2016

First done on a drunken night hike from Staffs Uni in 1997 - this was one was a more cultured affair, up from Longton through the wetlands and the ruins. Nice views down to the Clee Hills and Long Mynd.DanHolme20/12/2014
