1246706/03/2016SJ 84004 39793  F: NW side of reservoir, on wood side of track. Bit meaningless really since everything fairly flat, but possibly the highest side of reservoir.
O: An area of trees to the N and NE of the reservoir has been felled, exposing a possible new natural high point: SJ 84075 39879 at tree stump. Not as high as reservoir itself but possibly higher than track around it.

A short walk from the car park. Strolled around both sides of the reservoir compound.Mark Jackson01/04/2023
3rd and final hill of a circular from the Hanchurch Wood car park. After Tittensor I took the footpath into the village and then headed out on a footpath leading me to a minor lane that went back over the M6 and then a fp and track back close to the reservoir. It is possible to climb in if you should want to via an elder tree on the Western side. Visited the alternative high point that seems to be used as a starting point for some mountain biking. All very much of a muchness, definitive HP difficult to determine but spent well over 30 mins checking it over!Dazingdale11/03/2023
From parking to north. Walked 3 sides of reservoir. Couple of mounds on west side but were man made.PeterD24/11/2022
Easy parking to NW. As others, walked around several sides of the reservoir compound.PGCE03/08/2022
From the parking area at SJ 8396 2992, walked along the NE, NW & SW sides of the old covered reservoir compound; no longer possible to do a full circuit as a steel mesh fence has been erected around the adjacent new reservoir & there's no gap between the two. Aye Jimmy's possible high point has been replanted & the approach is currently covered in chest-high bracken & a fair bit of bramble - Gave it a miss.gerrybowes28/06/2022
It seemed to me that the highest point is in the compound at the end furthest from the car park but it's probably not natural ground anyway. Unusually large and ornate for a covered reservoir.Wycombe Wanderer01/03/2022
Scrappy summit area, wandered around 2.5 x the resr perimiter inc the HP. On drive from Ashley Heath to M6, took opportunity of a seemingly rare event of the lane over being open all the way.pwheeler28/02/2022
Walked about the edges of the reservoir enclosures. The summit location is lost in the mists of time now.fasgadh08/12/2021
Drove the car on a path near a reservoir top somewhere near there. Went with Dad.speedyclimber13/11/2021
Parked off Drayton Road. Wandered around likely candidates.Bramley19/07/2021
Loads of police cars about! Ambulance too. Something obviously going on. A quick walk on the way to Birmingham with Éire & Alfie.Dangerous Dave04/01/2021
Quick diversion from the M6. Two car parking areas - the second one is closer to the top, I parked at the first one, immediately off the road. The new reservoir work appears to be complete. Maybe more to follow if they decide to decommission the reservoir next to the tower.johnkenyon18/01/2020
2 of 15 on 45 mile bike ride. Originally planned on doing kings wood bank as 2nd summit but turned around after seeing the £12 entry fee to the park. Made my way to Newcastle road and up farmers footpath in field to Harley thorn lane and summitThe-Z-Man31/12/2019
Construction is curently underway to replace the Victorian era summit reservoir with a £8 million super reservoir to continue supplying The Potteries area. The water will still be pumped up here from the pure water found in the sandstone aquifer under the Mill Meece Valley to the south ( where the old steam driven pumps still have open days). The geology up here (and surrounding hills) of Bunter sandstone has many beautifully rounded pebbles, many of quartzite, belived to have been laid down after prolonged transport in large turbulent rivers with much powerful abrasion. A lad on a unicycle mountain bike (!)was filming himself trying to ride the small paths on the open summit heathland to the NE of the reservoirs. He seemed surprised to meet another visitor ( albeit on 2 legs).Chris Pearson06/04/2019
Walked around perimeter of secure construction site-new reservoir being built to replace old (1929) one. Tree creeper seen in woodland. Note that the motorway bridge South of Park Cottages/ South East of Hanchurch- shown on map -is blocked by barbed wire.Denise 26/12/2017
Walked from Trentham Gardens, the M6 providing something of an obstacle. Levellish hill top with new reservoir being built to the SE to replace the existing one.RichardM26/12/2017
Land nearest to reservoir.RoguePulsar08/12/2017
Short walk from car park.rhalstead20/08/2017
From the adjacent CP. Visited reservoir perimeter points - difficult to distinguish ground that might be higher. Raised ground (cleared woodland) at SJ 8407 3985 seems the best candidate - and has a view.summitsup30/04/2017
As for clivevilla.arranc01/03/2017
Car park then around reservoir with a dusting of snow coating the ground then a look a AJ's high point.Dugswell214/01/2017
Car park SJ 83967 39922. Walked around reservoir enclosure and also to Aye Jimmy possible natural high point.David Evans12/12/2016
Eight-tump circuit west from Trentham Gardens: Oulton Heath - Coombesdale Hill - The Ridding - Berth Hill - Camp Hill - Whitmore Heath - Hanchurch Hills - Kingswood Bank. Highest ground is artificial bank of reservoir in secure compound. Followed tracks around the perimeter and also visited possible natural highpoint mentioned by Aye Jimmy.davidpettit8423/10/2016
No way over the fence but everything within looks man made so I am claiming it.clivevilla22/07/2016
Car park to NW, walked right round reservoir, no real high point, took reading at NW side by track. However an area of trees to NE of reservoir has been cleared, exposing what may be a new natural high point?Aye Jimmy06/03/2016
Whilst off baby duty at Stoke hospital. Visit in the dark. Must be mad.stig_nest20/12/2015
From cp as RHW. Summit within res. enclosure. Walked round it.ngthack18/11/2015

Trentham to Tittensor. The original reservoir probably constructed on natural HP - also visited quieter 219m spot to NW.Smudgeblank
