| Unsure of any access difficulties due to construction work at cottage on col so opted for moorsman's route. Parking area by T-junction at 529550 - Through gate & forest tracks to start of path at SJ 5277 5566 - Along path for 100m or so & then up short, but very steep MTB track - On reaching vehicle track turned right & a short walk along track to summit mound. | A second day out on the Peckforton Hills with Lindsey. Cloudy with sunny intervals, cool breeze. Parked on Mill Lane at SJ 5295 5500. We walked north to Peckforton Gap then north on the Sandstone Trail for approx 300 metres. Through a broken gate into the woodland then, like Aye Jimmy, followed a green track uphill through woods to a 4WD track to the summit. Returned to the Sandstone Trail and followed it to Beeston. | Pronounced Peck4tun (said quickly, NOT Peck-for-ton). March 2020 ....Dedicated parking alongside the road at Bulkeley Mill. Access currently disrupted by building works at the house at the start of the county road at the col. Path legally closed with no real access from the west. No access off tracks in the woods towards Bulkeley Hill. However, if you follow the track from the road at spot height 93 into the trees. On reaching the trees, if you look to your right, a rough path starts, initially paralleling the track you have come off, then leading upwards, getting better and clearer as you ascend. | It seems that the door through the archway has now been designated a public footpath, though there is no public footpath to the top of Peckforton Point. Indeed there is a landrover driving training track up the hill, with some mean signs down the bottom declaring this private land. Ascended through the bracken and saw a landrover silently training on the track, followed it at a distance very slowly. | 5th of the day on a five Tump cycle from the Pony Club Championships at Cholmondeley Castle. After Bulkeley Hill, From the col to the W, at the road end near “The Gate House”, which was up for sale. £375,000 with Strutt and Parker, Aug 2018 since you ask. A family arrived with the estate agent as I cycled off through the open wooden gate up the track into the wood! There is a public footpath sign at the big gate, and another near new-looking post and wire fence. Followed this to 4x4 tracks (none out playing today) and then to summit. Returned same way as everyone was viewing the gardens!! Steep descent SE, then to the Bickerton Poacher pub for a well-earned pint before cycling back to Cholmondeley Castle. | Minto | 18/08/2018 |

| From Bulkily Hill. The house is an arch with a large wooden gate and a small wooden door in the gate. It's straight out of Lewis Carroll. I don't think I should have taken the route through the door but I saw no-one and proceeded into a junk yard. Staggering mess in such a lovely location. | 2nd hill of 7 today on part 1: Ridley to Tilston. Climbed Ridley Bank then took fp Nw, Sw to Ridley, crossing A49 & A534 then fp NNw through woodland and then track to Stone House Lane, over on fp but as it veers off NE i continued N over fence and climbed upto ridge where a fp meanders through new deciduous plantings. Followed this keeping close to edge until met forest track and summit is S of trck on bank as it bends round.
