Nipped here with Felix after picking up the Toyota Aygo. The NT CP was closing but found a parking spot at about SJ 86007 76815. No problem accessing summit with many tracks in the woods. We approached from SE after using ROW to S. No views. | RoguePulsar | 23/03/2024 |
Parked on road near official car park, walked up path for rougly half the way then diverted off the track to the top. With Dad. | speedyclimber | 23/03/2024 |
Gate to car park locked so parked at pull-in by junction, 100m or so to S. - Signposted footpath through to car par park & then a pleasant walk through open woodland to rock outcrop on obvious summit mound. | gerrybowes | 13/09/2023 |

Quick up and down from layby, trundled over a few likely spots, didn't linger as It seems a popular spot with screaming kids on half term break, my idea of hell when out for a peaceful jaunt. | Alfa1M | 25/10/2022 |
From NT carpark, interesting walk with good views - quarry, cave, HP, Castle Rock, miner's path, well, Stormy Edge and locked gate to mine workings, engine vein with copper deposits and locked steel door to workings. No wizard around though. | Nick Canute | 20/06/2022 |
I'm going to count this one retrospectively - as I quartered the summit while orienteering and then ascended the beacon mound after the race was done. | M3WDD | 13/07/2021 |

Large National Trust car park to the east, but, if you are lucky, there is a parking area 250m further west at the actual start of the summit footpath. Wide, easy path to the somewhat reluctant to reveal itself summit. Filming for the SKY drama, Galaxtica taking place with sounds of gunfire, flashes and other random strange noises. | moorsman | 05/03/2020 |
Did during a hike from Holmes Chapel to Alderley Edge. I wandered around the various possible high points mentioned below. For what it is worth, my GPS recorded SJ 85934 77583 as highest but the GPS signal was badly affected by the trees. | Alan Moore | 19/01/2020 |

The summit was only a sideshow on this visit, searching out the sites from Alan Garner's books. Sadly, not quite as magical as I'd hoped but still a fun couple of hours | Colin Crawford | 08/06/2017 |
whilst looking for destroyed trig pillar | cjo | 29/05/2017 |
2nd hill of the day on the way back to Nottingham from a trip to Mount Manisty from Birkenhead. Parked up at the National trust car park and then explored from the estimated grid reference stated and the highest point i got was a position just off the path next to a scots pine tree at SJ85933 77583. My gps read 202m however it often over exaggerates. Other 'high readings' but marginally lower were taken on surrounding knolls at SJ85947 77579, SJ86041 77625, SJ86092 77634 and finally close to the path again at SJ86084 77659. I didnt visit the Beacon but I will be back! | Dazingdale | 28/05/2017 |
Mound in trees behind building at SJ 85895 77454 read higher on GPS than mound with damaged plaque. | andrew brown | 10/04/2017 |
