Covered fenced reservoir but visited the highest points in the field just to be sure, land still for sale | matty1971b | 20/01/2024 |
Easy parking on Owlcotes Road next to a low section of dry stone wall (W. end) - Over wall & across recently mown grass to high point. As yet, no building developments underway. | gerrybowes | 06/09/2022 |
Getting too old even for simple walls like this, but got over OK. Money is on the meadow before the covered reservoir. Looks like it will be houses soon. | fasgadh | 22/05/2022 |
Completion round of both the Wharfe catchment and Leeds UA summits today, visiting Rawden Hill, Healthwaite Hill, Walton Head Whin, Bilbrough Hill, Garforth Cliff, Beecroft Hill, Owlcotes Hill and Tinshill Moor. The car did most of the heavy work, clocking up 100 miles, whereas I only walked 6 miles to bag all of them! (S) | silveracorn_alan | 02/01/2022 |
Site is due to be developed (aka filled with houses) so description likely to be changed. Oldcotes Rd wall climbable to the W where fence joins wall. Meadow leading to reservoir has a prominent albeit small (20 cm) ridge with embedded stones 20 m from reservoir - possibly highest ground. | henryfm | 14/11/2021 |
Via footpaths from and to New Pudsey Station. Crossing the A647 was interesting. BT working on the transmitter, so gates were unlocked for easy access. Solo. | Dave | 24/09/2021 |
Owlcotes Hill from GR: SE 21176 33626. I believe the summit position to be on grass at SE 21013 33690. | ronaldo333 | 26/12/2019 |
Parked to SSW on main road SE210336. Went round the back and into field. | David Evans | 12/05/2019 |
Stroll up Ingham's Avenue to the covered reservoir | Mark Sims | 07/03/2019 |
5 of 5 on 25.8 mile bike ride. Starting in parkside road, Bradford. Including harrop edge, chellow heights, idle hill, beecroft hill and owlcotes hill. Think Im reservoired out today 😩 | The-Z-Man | 02/09/2018 |
Yeh, well, whatever. Seems a bit arbitrary as to what makes a high point. If a reclaimed pit heap is a hill, why not the grassy border of the covered resr? | carole engel | 27/01/2018 |
Missed this one last week. Easy to see why. Still, good views over west Leeds. | Campbell Singer | 08/11/2017 |
Climbed over fence from road to what seemed HP. Also went round back and over stile but no higher. | PeterD | 05/09/2017 |
by bike, second of 3 Tumps of the day | IanHHill | 16/02/2017 |
5th and final hill of today on an 18.5 mi route from Menston to new Pudsey climbing The Chevin, Billing Hill, Tinshill Moor, Beecroft hill and then cutting across to fp that leads to the S side of the compound. Had to walk round via residential roads to get to the main entrance and climbed over fence to explore area in front. Finished at New Pudsey station. Leeds U/a now complete. | Dazingdale | 22/01/2017 |
A narrow lane leads from Owlcotes Road east of the reservoir to a stile. From here, it is possible to beat the bounds of the enclosed area, via two gates and a fence. The highest point seemed to me the top of the dome of grass between the compound and the metal gates leading to it from Owlcotes Road. The first snow of the year had fallen that morning, so the scene was more sparklingly attractive than the average covered reservoir. | Nick Down1 | 09/11/2016 |
Parked up, climbed over wall, long grass to reservoir fence.. and off again to find a chip shop. W Darren. During the Industrial Revolution this top might have risen above the smog which made nearby Pudsey one of the most polluted areas of the UK due to its position in a slight valley between the two industrial cities of Leeds and Bradford. As a result, whichever way the wind blew Pudsey became covered in thick soot. The temperature inversion created by the valley led to the soot becoming trapped leading to dense smogs. This is believed to have led to jokes that pigeons in Pudsey Park flew backwards in order to keep the soot out of their eyes. | Chris Pearson | 25/07/2016 |
Drove up. Walked up and down. I wonder why I do this? Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 18/03/2016 |

Had to give a friend a lift into Leeds early in the morning, decided on a few tump visits to keep me awake on the way home :) | the_adam | 28/11/2015 |
nipped to bag this on the way home after having a walk around Billing Hill & LBA | joseph mitchell | 27/11/2015 |
Another bloody covered reservoir. | ngthack | 08/11/2015 |
Another reservoir compound but with no noticeably higher natural ground inside the fence | vegibagger | 18/09/2015 |
Driveable almost to the summit. Easy parking on the adjacent road then a short cut through. | moorsman | 16/05/2015 |

Covered fenced reservoir but visited the highest points in the field just to be sure. | Dugswell2 | 05/10/2014 |
Top is all fenced in, nearest field full of cows | citygent | 11/09/2014 |
Covered reservoir (similar to Beecroft/Bramley) and comms mast are highest points. Fenced off. | Aye Jimmy | 17/03/2014 |
Summited much earlier - difficult to ascertain exact top. Not worth the bother unless you're local | Bramley | 17/08/2012 |
pasture by SW cnr resr 199gps apparently HP, or could be rough grass to SE in front of resr. | RHW | 12/02/2012 |
