From good parking by gate to NE, entered field & then SW along wide field boundary between wood & rape crop - Easily across ditch at SE 48243 06110 & then faint paths through bramble to high point by locked gates on NE side of castle ruin. | gerrybowes | 11/04/2024 |

Edge of field, returned through woods. | Nick Canute | 26/03/2022 |
Hickleton Hill from GR: SE 48540 06373. NB The track through the wood now has a Private No Public Right of Way sign on the gate. So PROW then field edges to the summit. | ronaldo333 | 21/08/2020 |
Good parking to the NE by entrance to wood SE485063. Visited both possible high points. | David Evans | 06/01/2020 |
Good parking at a field gate (SE 4853 0637). Woodland track then into field. | jonglew | 11/04/2019 |
No longer a tump, but had to be done anyway :) Followed field edges round to the old building, now fenced off | the_adam | 19/11/2016 |
Stubbly field on hot day with add bonus of trig SW but 18m lower | vegibagger | 23/08/2016 |
Along edge of field on strip which had been ploughed. HP could be in field near hedge or by folly. Came back along track in woods as easier. | PeterD | 21/06/2016 |
As for Dangerous Dave. | arranc | 12/06/2016 |
An easy walk along the edge of field from parking area near farm. With Evan, Sail, Danu, Coel & Alfie. | Dangerous Dave | 04/06/2016 |
2nd hill of 5 with Lexi Rue, my partner's Labradoodle on a long route from Aldwick station to Barnsley. 1st hill climbed was Brodsworth Bing using Brodsworth estate track to access minor road. We took the Hooton Pagnell turn-off and then followed field edge to high point in field. Didnt visit folly this time. Descent via trig as pointer then two other woodlands en-route to Ringstone hill. | Dazingdale | 28/05/2016 |
Parked alongside public footpath sign by Bilham House. Gate into wood locked so entered field into which the sign is pointing. Followed wood edge for 100m then an easy entrance into woods. From here the path cannot be seen from the house. Folly looked to be on the highest point but walked over the area to be sure (to be sure!) | moorsman | 01/04/2016 |
Across the field using fp, then round field border. Field planted but sufficient tyre treads to avoid trampling on new shoots.
Convinced that the hp is in the wood next to ruined castle and GPS confirmed my suspicion. | Campbell Singer | 25/03/2016 |
Parked up alongside footpath on Hickleton road headed for Bilham farm then zig zagging along field edges to reach summit at field edge.i then dropped down to bag the trig point....looks a strange old building in the woods however Danger unsafe building signs meant no exploration. | steven ruffles | 02/02/2016 |
Came from Melton in the south (linked this by footpath to The Ings). Followed the route used by others. Crops all harvested so no problems. Went by minor road and bridleways to Thurnscoe station. Nice walk. | Moorponder | 11/09/2015 |
From start of f/p. Field harvested, so took a direct line. Doncaster completion. | ngthack | 09/09/2015 |
Went to field then into woodland. Old Brodsworth hall in ruined condition. | Adrian | 30/08/2015 |
Very friendly Brodsworth Archaeological group were out searching the field having flagged it out into squares - 'promising geophys' they said - but just bits of pottery had been found so far - they assumed unsurprisingly that I had come to join them as I plodded along the field edge towards them before going on to wood and ruin, then down tractor tramlines through wheat to trig. | Chris Pearson | 13/08/2015 |
As per AJ | Bramley | 19/07/2015 |
Same route as Jimmy. Took the corner of field as the high point. | bolieve | 09/04/2015 |
Parked at Bilham House Farm and walked along the field edge to bag the corner of the field and then inside the wood to walk around the wood with Martin Richardson before bagging the nearby trig. Inside the wood looked higher. | Dugswell2 | 22/11/2014 |
Hickory dickey looking building on summit and also trig visit - with little Dugswell. | Martin R | 22/11/2014 |
Inside wood looked higher to me than ploughed field but light poor. Should be another OS trig (surface block) S side of the ruined wall but couldn't find it. | RHW | 15/08/2014 |
Parked to SE near gate almost opposite Public f/p sign. Followed f/p through middle of unidentified head-high crop (skinny runner-beans on stalks) until it met a cornfield. L along hedge following tractor trails then R along another hedge to vague high point near corner of field by wood at SE 48248 06065. Went into wood, discovered crumbling folly. Height near folly at SE 48210 06115 similar to field. | Aye Jimmy | 04/07/2014 |
