Easy parking at summit.David Evans09/09/2019
Walked from Moorthorpe Rail station via North Elmsall and Upton, past the Upton Miners Memorial; afterwards via Badsworth to Fitzwilliam for train home. This completes Wakefield Tumps and all of West Yorkshire. PS well done to the Z-man. Not so impressed with those who drove to the top!!- What's the point?IanHHill27/12/2017
3 of 4 today on 35 mile bike ride starting on ashdene drive in crofton. Red hill, kings mead, Upton beacon, Chevet parkThe-Z-Man24/12/2017
Drove up Beacon Hill where there is a large parking area. Summit appears to be thereabouts. Nice house at the top. Even better water tower.Campbell Singer02/11/2017

1st hill of four today (all Three tumps in Wakefield plus 1 in Leeds U/a). Train from Nottingham to Sheffield and then to Moorthorpe station, walking across to Upto accessing area from main road. I really like the Water tower. Agree with ground beside wall. Summit area extends into back garden. I explored t'ther side of the house, prompting the owner to ask what i was upto. I explained and he seened satisfied that i was just a harmless eccentric type. Waited for 35 mins to catch 30 bus to Pontefract for 2nd stage, King's Mead hill.Dazingdale21/01/2017
Agree with Peter D. High point is by wall, opposite tower.Ramblingpaul05/11/2016
Possible to drive to within a few feet of top, but parked on main road and walked up. HP seemed to be by wall. The trig is in a garden of a house below the two at the top, so I wonder if it had been moved, as it is not where the map says it is.PeterD26/10/2016
Beacon Hill is a public road so it is possible to drive up to the summit area. Alternatively, park on the main road and it is a couple of minutes to walk up to the top. Difficult to establish the summit, but it appears to be the rear boundary of the house.moorsman01/04/2016
With Eire, Evan, Sail, Danu, Coel & Alfie. Where is the trig?Dangerous Dave20/03/2016
Short walk up to water tower.ngthack01/11/2015

Saw water tower, windmill and trig in the wallAdrian30/08/2015
Found the water tower and summit OK (hard not to) but searched high and low for trig which I guessed (correctly)was in one of the back gardens but nobody at home so thought better not explore uninvited.Chris Pearson13/08/2015

Walked up Beacon Hill cul-de-sac to admire the old beacon, water tower and trig.Dugswell223/11/2014
Up on Upton beacon there seems to be a lot going on. With Swelldug. My Wakefield completion - bet you are impressed.Martin R23/11/2014
Should have taken 'Beacon Hill cul-de-sac' but made mistake of following bridleway at N end of village: a very circuitous way of getting to the water tower. Gap in hedge behind tower then led back to tarmac road outside gates. High point may be tarmac or field by hedge round back. Concrete tower hovering above is quite impressive - wouldn't like to live in those luxury homes below!Aye Jimmy04/07/2014
At least i did the right thing and got out of the car to stand on the tarmac.thenomad08/08/2013
