Drove round Holcombe on very narrow lanes- would have been better on a bicycle- and parked just S on the public road through the golf course. A very easy walk to a beautiful viewpoint from a fine chalk ridge with ancient fort ramparts.pwheeler25/07/2023
Beautiful June day, admiring the views and taking a stroll around one of my favourite spots.AngiLala04/06/2023

Arrived here at the end of my second day hiking the Cotswold Way. Slight diversion from my walk route was well worth it! Enjoyed a few minutes relaxing here before finding a nice grassy area nearby (not on the golf course) to sleep under the stars.Gerry the Ranger25/06/2020
Justifiably popular summit with view and trig set in old hill fort with parking in large layby to S. Just avoid the golf balls- better visited in the evening?Denise 07/06/2020
A fine hill fort commanding great all-round views. Sunshine, breaking cumulus and a NW breeze after a somewhat overcast day.RichardM07/06/2020
Very pleasant amble up side of golf course from the south. Fine view point.Aye Jimmy17/06/2019

Detour from Birdlip to Painswick section of the Cotswold Way. One of the few places on this stretch with a view as most of it is in woodland. Nice hill fort though, despite the golfers.milimana16/02/2019
Bitterly cold - freezing rain/sleet - so just a very short stop at the summitM3WDD28/10/2018
Plenty of parking just nw of bend. Pleasant stroll up over scorched golf course. Great views.Campbell Singer17/07/2018
Stroud to Stonehouse. Popular Sunday walking venue - no golfers about but added hazards of radio controlled toy car & airborne drone.Smudge25/02/2018
Quick up-and-back from road to south with family after visiting the delightful Prinknash Bird & Deer Park. My daughter still had a big grin from feeding & stroking the deer, and despite being busy at the top, the views from this hill put an equivalent grin on my face! Certainly some of the more unusual golf holes I've seen though... almost like full-size crazy golf.wheresthepath30/07/2017

Bagged as YSM533 Painswick Hill. Last one of the trip and a steep but short walk up to a fantastic viewpoint. Absolutely shattered.com. 53 YOSMs, 108400 Fitbit steps, 948 miles, at least 15 different HeartFM stations (the Wham and Michael Jackson fan club station), probably at least 10 counties, 2 lovely pub lunches, several additional trigpoints, a handful of caches, a few gyms, pokestops and Pokémon and still no Lapras and 1 bottle of lovely scrumpy, a great trip!thejackrustles25/04/2017

There is a turn off the A46 marked Painswick Beacon. The top is covered by a golf course which has several holes within the earthworks of the hill fort - wouldn't be allowed now I think.clivevilla20/01/2016

Parking on Sanitorium Rd to NE for a round of 3 tumps: Painswick Hill, Nut Hill and High Botheridge. Good views over Gloucester and Cheltenham and surrounding hills on this jumbly mess of a hill with golf course built into it.jonglew19/12/2014
Lots of parking to the south and then a short walk accross a golf course. As I did the Cotswold Way in the late 80s I've presumably been near here before but have little recollection.Herbert Anchovy13/11/2014
Circular from Painswick, up to the beacon, along overly busy minor road to Edge, onto Cotswold Way around Scotsquar Hill to Ring Hill trig, then on to viewpoint then towards Bird in Hand and along minor road to pick up the Cotswold Way back to Painswick.DanTrig01/03/2014
