Parked at high point of road to the east (202m). Walked down forest road past Craig of Grobdale. Over hurdle gate by fence corner, east of the burn, and ATV track follows fence up to high point of ridge. The summit is just over the b/w fence. Much easier than expected. Solo.Dangerous Dave12/10/2023

Parked on hardstanding on W. side of burn at 602624 - Stepped over burn & a short climb up banking on ATV track to hurdle - Up ATV track, sometimes vague & occasionally invisible, but always across easy ground - Left track at NX 60244 63317, less than 200m E. of summit - Over bwf at straining post, across collapsed wall, clockwise around edge of some heather & a short climb to summit.gerrybowes11/05/2023
Parked at NX6109062236. Walked down track to cattle grid at NX6020762412. Managed to find grassy sections and deer tracks through trees and clearfelled areas to summit although it was rough going, especially lower down.PeteF28/10/2022
3/4 Marilyns. Parked at NX 61089-62190 off main road and about 30 yards south of entrance. How I ever got to the top I'll never know and I even returned almost sane and healthy! Very rough, some paths, flies, tussocks, barbed wire and de-forestation on top. This little gem had all the worst aspects of a hill.Jhimmy31/07/2022

Room for 2 vehicles near burn at approx 603624. Thick bracken at burn so went about 40 yds east on the track and up through bushes/trees/bracken for about 20 yds to a gate which can be seen from the track. Over gate onto path/track on east side of barbed wire fence.duchally24/08/2021
Parked on verge of large layby on Laurieston road, just north of forest road. Followed forest road down to NX602624, then over hurdle and along ATV tracks to the east of the fence on the east side of stream. Just before the col a section of the barbed wire has been tied to the fence below with baler twine, giving an easy crossing. Then through felled area to summit.vuirich23/04/2021

Drove forest roads to park at a track end (NX 5980 6395). Good mapped breaks then bad mapped breaks, then the rough.jonglew09/02/2021
Drove to NX602624 then followed fence north to high point then easy onto top. Fence is behind a wooden gate which can hidden by track side bracken. Steep but fast on some ATV tracks. New sapling planting may make future access more difficult!dave g30/08/2020

It might be possible to drive up the logging road to 592639-ish and turn right up a track to 598639-ish to park. Grid refs estimated assuming that the latter follows the old fire break. This possibility seems OK with the logging truck drivers provided that full use is made of the passing places to let them through without stopping, which gets a thumbs up. At the turning area, follow an old ATV track S up the stream to a strange wooden structure, then deer tracks up the fire break, which veers left (E) across the stream then heads NE almost to the summit, visible as a straight, broad grassy line between the felled areas. Summit brash is rotting down nicely. Route is OK in summer, two very short pushes through bracken and the deer tracks make light work of long grass. Much less bracken than the usual route.Gill20/08/2019
6/8 A round of the valley from Laghead Bridge, including Benfadyeon, Bengray, down to Loch and up to Craigtype, then Fell of Laghead, Craig of Grobdale and continue up to White Top of Culreoch. Then down through the trees to Doon of Culreoch and back to complete circle via Castramont Hill. Note the last two were hard going with felled woodland at first and then tussocky ground, made it a 6 hour round despite the low hills. Sunburnt, silly me!nickywood113/07/2019
Misty. Mist cleared whilst standing at summit. 75 min round trip after parking on Laurieston RoadLongwojo01/06/2019

No restrictions to drive on good graded track to parking area at NX602624. Followed fence line up. Forest was felled some years ago. Cleared of pine brashings on side of hill but full of it on the top side making access to the highest point a little awkward. Operated short wave radio from summit for SOTA.G4OBK (Phil)21/02/2019
Short addition after Colt Hills early finish. From SE, possible to drive half km along good track to below Crag of Grobdale short of daylight so took it. Up steep grassy slope before following ATV track to just below the summit, shorn of trees.N.Morters08/12/2018
8th top of 9, 1st a reascent of Craiglowrie with Adrian then Cairn Tammock and Rig of Burnfoot and Auchencloy solo, remaining tumps with Adrian:Laughenghie and Doon of Culreoch then a 3 tump circular starting with Ewe Hill onwards Via a grassy track then a drop to a fence and final climb with fallen tree at summit but not obscuring Cairn. Darkness has descended so head torch on. Continuing to Craig of Grobdale...Dazingdale17/10/2018

From the forestry road to the south, faint but comfortable track up east side of burn. Higher up a barbed fence crossing leads into the felled first around the summit, from which thankfully most of the debris was removed.Topographer5714/10/2018
After Craig of Grobdale, a revisit and much easier than previously, when I struggled through thick conifers to locate that cairnColin Crawford30/08/2018

After Storm Brian, still windy - cycled up from Gatehouse then faint ATV track to near summit. Returned over Craig of Grobdale to my bike, then cycled down the hill to climb Bengray.NormanW22/10/2017

Parked on road near forest track .Took that track until over small stream before crossing fence to pick up ATV tracks around SW flanks of Craig of Grobdale. Unfortunately wasn't so carefully crossing second barbed wire fence and put 3 inch cut in my knee. Still trousers were left unmarked so not all bad. After that summit easily attained and descent uneventful.garyhoney30/07/2017

Delightful little climb up ATV track by burn from forest road. 2 barbed wire fences easily negotiated. Easy to find small summit cairn by fallen tree.AndrewFinnimore26/04/2017

Might have been better off following the forestry track to the bottom of the forestry rather than contouring round over overgrown terrain.Owen B05/11/2016
Started at 611622. Walked west along the stone road to a gap in the wall on the right blocked by a sheet of wrinkly tin. Stepped over this and ascended NW on the flanks of Craig of Grobdale to summit. One barbed wire fence to cross. Good views of the rain heading our way from the top.mindlessflogger04/11/2016
