2 of 2: From Cairnsmore of Carsphairn. With Karen.ChrisR05/09/2023
From parking near Green Well of Scotland up track then to Willieanna and Dunool, on way up to Cairnsmore of Carsphairn, and back via Beninner, Knockwhirn and over Craig of Knockgray.PeterD02/06/2023
11.1 mile walk from the entrance to the Moorbrock Estate on the Water of Ken road. We followed the good track up to the very well maintained but spookily quiet Moorbrock farm. From there we followed the obvious track around Green Hill to the 4th firebreak down to Poldores Burn (very easy to cross). Not mentioned on the comments on here; we had to scale a gateless deer fence before ascending quite steeply up to Nick of the Lochans. From here we followed a small trail up to the slightly snow-sprinkled summit of Cairnsmore of Carsphairn. We headed back to the Nick and easily ascended grassy Beninner. From the summit cairn we descended back to the annoying deer fence and burn and followed the easy trail up to Moorbrock Hill. Descending the same way through Moorbrock back to the car. 1042m ascent. High cloud but amazing views today as far as Ben Lomond, Arran and Ailsa Craig. We saw one person from a far all day.DanTrig04/03/2023
Parked on the old section of road next to the A713 bridge at Well Green of Scotland, North of Carsphain, with Kevin Woods. Headed up the track then cut off up Willieanna, then Dunloop before contouring around to Beninner and up to Cairnsmore of Carsphain. Descended alongside the stone dyke and back out on the track. Mist on the summits early on but lifted once we got up some wind, giving good views all around, 5hrs.chillyman814/07/2022
Revisit of Cairnsmore of Carsphairn, this time taking in some nearby tops. Willieanna, then on to Cairnsmore of Carsphairn via Dunool. Continued to Beninner, then Knockwhirn. Returned to bealach and then a rising traverse WNW to reach ridge W of Dunool and then descend from Dunool to track back to road. Some rain, cold and windy on the high tops.RobertP22/05/2022
Moorbrock, Keoch Rig, Dugland, Cairnsmore of Carsphairn and Beninner from CraigengillanJimT12/01/2022
From Cairnsmore of Carsphairn in snowstorm on SSE bearing taking care to not drift too far to the left. Unexpectedly reached a fence, by which time it had stopped snowing and cleared, revealing route following fence SE to col at Nick of the Lochans. Over the gate and straight up the NW side following atv track partially hidden by snow. Repeat note to self - add snowshoes to Xmas list. At the summit it started snowing again so after dropping WPs and taking photos set off in fading light for Knockwhirn, however at Knockwhirn col decided conditions too poor at late hour to bother with anymore bagging and instead followed Benloch Burn picking up the track to the ford and cutting across right to find outbound track south of Willieanna.mntainman10/12/2021

fa,solo, sunny but cool on tops, wet underfoot, 12km, 5hr, from green well of scotland to clennoch bothy via cairnsmore of carsphairn, nick of lochan, beninner, nick of lochan then down into the glen across to a landrover track, over some boggy ground first, and to the bothy for the nightrum doodle 06/06/2019
Parked at Green Well of Scotland, following the main Cairnsmore track to the SW slopes of Willieanna, going over the wall to the summit at a barbed wire free section. Over Dunool and the Black Shoulder to the Cairnsmore, buffeted by a strong south-easterly. Down and up to Beninner and down again and briefly up to Knockwhirn, where an embedded stone seems to be the summit. Across some fairly rough terrain and along a persistent electric fence before crossing where the wire is a single strand by a low point in a wall, and up the rocky slopes of the Craig of Knockgray. A final barbed wire wall defence persuaded me to follow the wall down to North Liggat and walk back through Carsphairn.Nick Down114/04/2019
Parked a few hundred metres N of Craigengillan, and walked in past Craigengillan cottage to Moorbrock. Carried on between the houses, and dropped down to cross a little burn, then turned immediately left on the forest track below Green Hill. Took the first fire break at a 'watch tower' and down over rough tussocky ground to cross the Poldores Burn. Peter went steeply up Benniner, whereas I followed an obvious sheep track S to contour round, avoiding the steeper part of the hill. (The steep route turned out to be fine, with sheep tracks and no loose scree.) Went on to do Keoch Rig and Moorbrock Hill before returning by the main Moorbrock estate track, which gave better walking than our inward route.LizH10/04/2019
From Green Well of Scotland & up Cairnsmore of Carsphairn. From Cairnsmore, down ridge, over stile at 596975 & then bits of ATV track & path to stile in Nick of the Lochans - Over stile & then intermittent path to summit cairn - Returned to stile at 596975 & then followed path alongside fence over Black Shoulder to Dunool - Dropped down to track just N. of the Nick of Disgee & back to car. Took a direct line from Keoch Rig but ground around the bealach was nasty and boggy. Obviously easier to combine with Carsphairn coming up from the west.AndrewFinnimore28/09/2018

With Cairnsmore of Carsphairn on my Birthdaynickywood103/09/2017
Continued solo walk from Cairnsmore of Carsphairn by descending S/SE to Nick of the Lochans, across stile over electric fence and up to summit of B. (First visit was also solo, on 22/07/2015, during a Donald walk around Moorbrock Hill.) Took a few snaps then reversed upward route to stile, veering SW thereafter to traverse SE flank of Black Shoulder and round to small lochan (588964) to join wall running over Dunool and on towards Willieanna. At nick before W, turned R following a fence NW to reach upward track which was used to return to Green Well. Weather continued dry, warmer on track than at altitude.jacobus30/08/2017
Alone. Circuit from Craigengillan, taking in Cleddoch bothy.Grinner23/07/2017
Heatwave. Started at Craigengillan / Water of Ken and climbed the steep east side of Beninner, Cairnsmore, crossed to Keoch Rig and Moorbrock and then down via Moorbrock Estate house. The climb over tussocky grass going up Keoch Rig was torturous. SMC guide route.Roblex26/05/2017

from Keoch. Back to col and under mist saw way ahead for next hour to cross a rough area and a plod up over 2 wire fences and to just under Cairnsmore ridge of smoother easier grass. Skylarks in abundance although I couldn't see much to sing about. Gentle stroll up for 400' to large cairn at top. 15.15. No view - mist.arranc02/04/2008
