With Jo, linear walk from Shipley Bridge: tramway to Quickbeam Hill, then mainly tracks to Ugborough Moor and Ugborough Beacon [two tops]. Then on permissive path across Wrangaton Golf Course before footpath past Moorhaven Village to Bittaford. Weather; generally sunny, hot, good visibility. Cool breeze later in day.amblerbob16/09/2020
From Shipley Bridge. Took the tarmac lane by the River Avon, then NW up on the RoW on the map (not evident on the ground) to the huge cairn at White Barrows. Then faint path to the summit. Continued to Ugborough Moor. Solo.Man of Kernow103/05/2019
Good circular walk from parking to SE. Up via dismantled railway - path once past metaled road to Avon Filtration Station - return via Two Moors Way and reservoir. Unfortunately last 1.5 miles is tarmaccarole engel26/06/2018
Approached from Stalldown- river easy to cross this time. Large barrow with single standing stone- Apparently this is Petre's Cross, possibly from Buckfast abbey, erected by landowner, Petre in 16th C as a boundary stone, used/ damaged by 19th C turf cutters as part of house and now re-erected upside down. Apparently has OS bench mark but we did not see. Hard to ascertain base of barrow but HP c 50 p W in hummock- Ground to SSE- White Barrow -appeared lower by Abney. Remote feel. Very hot.Denise 18/06/2017

From Shipley bridge to Quickbeam Hill the on to Three Barrows and back to Shipley Bridgeisabelle14/03/2015
Easy, free parking at Shipley Bridge. The route up to the filtration station is somewhat circuitous, but once there, provided you turn off the metalled road at the correct place, an excellent track leads to the summit (eventually)moorsman23/08/2014
Climbed this hill from the disused tramway that the Two moors way uses on my Two moors way and Devon coast to coast walk, this being the penultimate leg from Widecombe in the moor to Ivybridge. Once on the tramway I selected a point to climb from (where the tramway takes an acute turn and comes back on itself) and agree with RHW the summit is somewhere close to the tumulus aka Western White Barrow. Petres Cross is pretty worn and actually sticks out from the rocky tumulus. I did actually walk to the high ground to investigate Eastern White barrow too. A lovely remote feel to this area. I saw just one person in all of 24 miles!Dazingdale26/03/2014
