From CoastWatch station with Rosie and Yvonne. Picnic by the stationLongwojo02/06/2023
3 mile walk from with L,R & J & M on a sunny windy Easter Saturday from Tregonhawke and then back. Leisurely picnic on the lee side of this popular headland with its chapel attracting many folk with a close car park and Plymouth not far away. A beautiful high and steep stretch of coast peppered with military defences since the 1800's to protect Plymouth harbour from both the sea and then air. Sunk deliberately in 2004 off Whitsand Bay to form a marine reef (250 species reported) and a dive site is the former frigate HMS Skylla. The ship had an unhappy collision record - initially with the Tor Point ferry (having just set sail for sea trials after a lengthy refit!); an Icelandic gun boat was next during the cod wars, and then one of its own refuelling ships. Tragically 4 divers have drowned exploring inside the wreck when churned up silt has obscured the way out. Ongoing dumping to the west of Rame Head of dredged sludge and silt from the Tamar estuary has been blamed as a factor.Chris Pearson08/04/2023
Bagged as part of a 12.4 mile circular coast walk. Nice views before the weather closed in.DanTrig23/03/2023
Parked at the Coastguard Station Carpark and then walked up with Helen and Molly in glorious sunshine. A few horses milled around the chapel and many Stonechats and Wall butterflies were noted.JohRvs21/09/2022

From the coastguard station with the family. Summit chapel and WW2 concrete foundations. Lunched near the top and then walked up to Polhawn Cove where we sat on the beach in the rain for a while.Herbert Anchovy14/08/2017

Small car park at minor road junction at SX 41960 50303. A fantastic and very memorable 6 mile circular coastal walk to claim this shapely hill. From car park - south to Rame Head - east to Penlee Point - north to Kingsand - west on public footpaths and minor road back to car park.David Gradwell08/04/2009
Car park at end of minor road. Chap in the hut taking the parking money lived in a village called Chipshop, Knowing I was from up north he asked me if I had any connections with the village of Fryup. He wanted to twin them!moorsman23/08/2002
