Well preserved earth embankments of ancient fort, apparently constructed 500-300 BC by Dunnonian tribes for defence and trade as part of a network of similar hillforts, later developed and used by Romans in c450 AD, when it acquired its current name and even occupied by Parliamentarians during the civil war 1645-6, until dispersed by a great storm... or possibly a protective dragon. HP on northern grassy embankment. | Denise | 02/04/2018 |
