O: Ignoring resr (top of which is the highest point of the hill), summit is 10-15m to NE in arable field. Rox Hill Clump, a deciduous circle, seems to be further to the NE, and does not sit at the summit.

Logged Descriptions  (logged by 14 users)ByDate of Ascent
Parked at Lake Club (on side road in Lake). Up lane, then left on footpath into wood. Straight up in wood to track along south side. Summit field currently sown to grass. Visited summit and top of reservoir.PGCE04/03/2021
Amesbury to Old Sarum. From ROW to ENE, woods & into turnip field then heading for the ROW track along Boreland Hill to SW.Smudge15/11/2019

The closest tump to Stonehenge ( 2 miles to the north) which is not lit up at night ( big debate in the past) or I would have seen it glowing in the distance on my dark pre-dawn ascent from east. I had planned to continue to walk the 4 miles there and back to arrive at the recommended golden hour ( dawn or dusk) to try to experience the monument with no other people there at sunrise in January which would be special. However a strong cold N wind and cold spitting rain and gloom hinted at a different adjective to golden awaiting me there, so plans shelved. Rox Hill is itself within the Stonehenge World Heritage Site and has two well documented Bronze Age barrow cemeteries on the north flank ( The Lake Down Group and the Wilsford Group). Seems there are different types of barrows - pond, bell, disc, bowl). There is also a Celtic field system here the reports say - how they coped in those far off days with the same sticky chalk mud without wellies the reports do not say.Chris Pearson27/01/2019
Parked at start of FP, but then through woods following field edge and tractor tracks to the clump and then to HP and top of reservoir for good measure.PeterD11/11/2018
Parked at start of footpath to E - along to gate - easily through woods to corner - tramlines to Clump & reservoir. Wiltshire done at last!Chris Peart30/01/2018
Parked in wide gateway to east and walked across the stubble.Herbert Anchovy17/09/2015
Circular walk from Upper Woodford. Summit point, ignoring reservoir, seems to be 10m or so to NE of resr. Rox Hill Clump slightly to NE of summit point. 'Private Road - No Entry' signs, farmers around today, but no challenges.jonglew09/09/2014
Top of covered resr at location of natural HP. from NE, up thru wood then tramlines thru crop, irrigation resr unfenced. Park at end of yellow road RHW07/04/2012
