Run: Cottington's Hill -> Caveley Hill -> Beacon Hill -> Sidown Hill -> Ladle Hill -> Watership Down. Path through woods from E after dropping down off Beacon.maclrc01/03/2020
Parked in layby near Three Legged Cross and walked east along track to permissive track through Highclere Castle estate to summit area. Lovely Bluebells. The OS SH location appears lower and teh natural HP appears to be at the SW corner of the enclosed covered reservoir, although the reservoir top itself is the unnatural HP. The views of Highclere, through the nearby but lower 18th C brick gateway (Heaven's Gate) are impressive. A sign says the track is only open Easter to August but there is no gate or fence.Denise 27/04/2019
E along track from Three Legged Cross past Beech wood with superb Bluebells. Summer Walk to the impressive Heaven's Gate crosses summit area. Ground at SW corner of reservoir enclosure (SU 44427, 57495) is higher than the OS spot height.RichardM27/04/2019
Kingsclere (bus from Basingstoke) - Cottington's Hill - Watership Down - Ladle Hill - Beacon Hill - Sidown Hill - Caveley Hill - Kingsclere.Mark Jackson20/10/2018
Walked from Highclere Castle to Sidown Hill, Beacon Hill and Windbolts Hill. About 2 hours.clivevilla08/08/2018

From grotto. Highest point seemed nearer to Heaven's Gate to me. Had intended walking to Beacon Hill, which looked impressive through the trees but running out of daylight and the walk far from peaceful, decided to drive round.Wycombe Wanderer27/12/2016
From west, same route as Jon.PeterD13/11/2016
Just time during last hour of daylight until 6.30 pm. From west long mile each way all on tracks to brick folly (heaven's gate)with top set back a bit in wood.Radio reporting commuter traffic gridlock with M4 closed due to overturned lorry. Good plan to now go 'dark hill bagging' to delay return drive towards London as late as possible.Chris Pearson12/10/2016
Little safe parking room at Three Leg Cross, although it may be possible to do so a short way up the estate track. Muddy walk despite dry week. Estate have opened final part of path to top but only from Easter to August Bank Holidaytrimarc208/07/2016

Three Legged Cross to Kingsclere. SW cnr of reservoir gets my vote.Smudge19/06/2015
From Grotto Lodge on RoW then permissive path. Unsure where precise HP lies. I had it at SW corner of reservoir compound, near the entrance, but that's approx 150m NNW of the OS spot height, which I walked over also before visiting the arch folly, which is definitely at a lower elevation, but gives excllent views over the Highclere Castle.jonglew05/04/2015
Made a small detour from an Amesbury Walkers Series Walk, parked in Ashmansworth village, but there is some parking at 3 Legged Cross. Followed the permissible path (Easter Bank Holiday to August Bank Holiday, Heaven's Gate Walk http://www.highclerecastle.co.uk/about-us/walks-within--near-the-estate.html) to the summit and then the gate.Jacqdaw28/07/2013
Well worth the detour to Heaven's Gate, impressive brick folly with great views, including Highclere Castle (aka Downtown Abbey)Hillsidenick28/07/2013
