Run w/Horsell Runners. Parked in Shere Car Park. The Warren, Pitch Hill loop. | ZacField | 16/09/2023 |
Walking along the Greensand Way. Up to fence, no trespass | Sixtyplus | 29/08/2023 |
Well and truly out of bagger reach. Settled for highest point outside of enclosed grounds. | summitter | 06/01/2023 |
Walked from Holmbury Hill via Pitch Hill- freezing weather useful for a notoriously muddy section of the Greensand Way where it is narrowly constricted between fences. The fencing work has been completed at The Warren and the HP is way out of bounds- from the GW it would require breaking and entry or the key pad code or permission. | pwheeler | 01/12/2022 |
Across from Pitch hill then back to Ewhurst. Plenty of fenceline... | Buck | 14/08/2022 |
Bagged at last- gate open, contracters still there but working indoors so I took the opportunity to visit the spot height, clearly the HP and ca. 4m higher than the Greensand Way. Beautiful sunny day with patches of fog below the S. Downs but I hurried off and enjoyed the view from Reynards Hill where I could relax. The work at The Warren has been going on for several years and when finished it looks as though it will include a high fence with gates operated by chip access. | pwheeler | 13/01/2022 |
Walked up from the Peaslake car park then across to Pitch hill. Cloudy but got warmer | sconnolly01 | 10/10/2021 |
From Car park to E: settled for windmill. Then went to good viewpoint SW of car park | GordonAdshead | 14/08/2021 |
Pitch Hill and The Warren from Pitch Hill car park. The Warren is very well-defended, so had to be content with a walk around the fence. Nice windmill. | PGCE | 22/11/2020 |
Ewhurst Circular: bagged at entrance to the windmill | PhilipChaston | 21/11/2020 |
Climbed with Peter Thirkettle as part of 39 mile hill bagging route (couldn't gain access to official highest point in private garden) | psburgess | 05/06/2020 |
Hottest day of the year - gorgeous out. With trimarc2 & r1 | Fionalevey | 20/05/2020 |
2nd visit with FE and PJB | trimarc2 | 20/05/2020 |
With Fiona and David. Lovely weather. | r1 | 20/05/2020 |
Loop run of Leith Hill, Holmbury Hill, Pitch Hill and The Warren. Beautiful day, beautiful scenery. Walked along fence a bit from gate to hp outside of the house; given the broadly flat true hp (a few metres higher than where I got to) and requirement to trepass into a garden, my effort was good enough for me to claim this one. | maclrc | 22/03/2020 |
The Warren, Pitch Hill, Holmbury Hill, Leith Hill hike | lerritt | 15/09/2019 |
44km bagging loop around the Mole Valley in good conditions. | atreides7887 | 09/02/2019 |
Holmbury Hill, Pitch Hill and The Warren circular. Reached the derelict house and mooched around the northern perimeter fence. | SteveG | 28/01/2019 |
Walked up from Peaslake and can only get as far as the gate to Windmill as all fenced of private land with dogs 🐕 loose | nickywood1 | 20/11/2018 |
Ewhurst to Shamley Green. | Smudge | 17/11/2018 |
Stroked (over the gate) the huge but soft German Shepherd dog that was roaming the grounds of the dilapidated house that led (possibly) past some cabins towards the private summit, and then chatted to the owner (about his dog) - but stayed on our side of the gate. Peering over the fence/ laurel hedge from the north you can see a (summit?) mound behind the tennis courts of the adjacent property Summerfield House. 8 crimes within 1.9 miles of here were recorded in April 2018 - 4 of them being antisocial behaviour - does peering over laurel hedges count in this? With L on a lovely sunny 5 hour walk. | Chris Pearson | 21/10/2018 |
Like everybody else walked past the gate to the windmill on a 16ml Challange Walk from Peaslake run by the London group | philhythe | 13/10/2018 |
As part of a 20k hike from Shamley Green to Leith Hill along the Greensand Way. Took in The Warren (tump), Pitch Hill (tump), Holmbury Hill (hump) and Leith Hill (marilyn) along the way. | The Mountain Raven | 13/11/2016 |
9 Tumps / 20 miles between Holmwood and Dorking stations: Leith, Holmbury, Pitch, Warren, Dunley, Longmoor, Bury, Tower, Terrace. Track marked on map as climbing hill from SE doesn't seem to be in evidence on the ground (or very overgrown). Instead, had to content myself with highest point of Greensand Way near windmill (chap mowing lawn in garden with highest point!) | Mark Jackson | 29/08/2016 |
Did a circular walk around the summit as actual top was in a private garden. Nice Tower Mill nearby: Ewhurst Windmill. | JohRvs | 16/08/2016 |
Climbed up from the car park on Ride Way. The Summit seems to be in someone's garden so didn't make it to the top | r.ashwell | 28/02/2016 |
Summit 'defended' by builders vans. Generally difficult area to visit, yet nearby is delightful North Downs scenery | trimarc2 | 09/02/2016 |
After Pitch Hill. Main gates closed, landscapers' van on driveway. Scouted along boundary fence on N side property, hopped over and played hide-and-seek with the landscapers whilst they chain-sawed. Unsure if HP was reached as not free enough to wander round, but had a fair crack at it given circumstances. | jonglew | 28/01/2016 |
Got to the gate beyond which lies a semi derlict house & the 'high point'. A barking dog stopped us going further here, but a scout around the perimiter fence got us to practically the same height as to that within the fence. | DanMaisieBex | 10/01/2016 |
Difficult one this, summit area topped by exclusive residences but high point marked on map is in a farm area with port-a-carbins and a dog. Didn't visit the point marked by spot height but my thought was the high point was likely to be the windmill as can't see why the windmill wouldn't have been built at the high point if there was nothing else there. Google Earth elevation data also suggests the windmill as the high point. Anyway, I didn't visit the windmill either but did stand not that far away at the gateway to it. | RichardM | 12/12/2015 |
We think we reached the HP, but the windmill is a private house with fenced grounds- with Richard | Denise | 12/12/2015 |
Got as close as possible without being arrested for trespassing. Started at the car park and went up to a very nice house on the right. | steverd | 19/10/2015 |
Parked on the other side of the windmill (west) walked along the path. Saw the high point was on private property. | Dragonzilla | 19/10/2015 |
Garden of The Warren, from E. Neighbouring property to N lower. | RHW | 28/06/2015 |
10 min up and down from car park to east after Pitch Hill. Top inside one of the private gardens - only marginally higher- did not enter. some impressive houses on top -including a windmill turned into a house. | Chris Pearson | 06/01/2015 |
Difficult to claim this with a clear conscience as spot height is on private property. Went to entrance gate so that will have to do for now. With Gina as part of our round of Historic County Tops in England & Wales. Main summit was Leith Hill county top of Surrey and to include Holmbury Hill as well. Parked in Coverwood car park and headed west instead of East to include TuMPs of Pitch Hill and The Warren. Smashing 10.75 circular walk with a decent 600m of ascent. | mntainman | 02/01/2015 |
With Steve. | GinaSmith | 02/01/2015 |
Greensand Way | Vatsmith | 18/10/2014 |
Top inside private grounds. Entrance to property can be reached from Greensand Way. Talked to man mowing grass inside 250 contour but did not reach spot height. However all is very flat on top. Highest point could be in neighbouring property. | garyhoney | 15/06/2013 |
