Ascent as Denise, but then I went down the S ridge, following good paths to the B2146. I then went on the SDW to Harting Down as the clouds cleared to give a glorious sunny winter aftrenoon- beautiful light and visibility. Back via S.Harting, good field paths to road summit SE of pt.87 from where you could get on the E.ridge of Torberry Hill- would have made a better walk but on a recce earlier, I was put off by the huge warning signs about trespassing. Back on lane to triangle by pt. 82. W. Sussex completion (which I didn't want to risk by the very visible E.ridge trespass) | pwheeler | 27/01/2022 |

On a foggy day, with lovely Autumnal colour. Parked at triangle of grass to N of Summit. Steep ascent East from road through light undergrowth and yews to grassy summit. | Denise | 05/11/2020 |
From the NW up through the steep woods, nice old Yews on the upper slope. The alarm calls of birds pierce the misty silence, dewy strands of cobwebs link branches and a pair of deer stop momentarily on the ridge line silhouetted against the bright silvery light. Reaching the top of the woods we cross a low BWF and over horse pasture to the high point of grassed over disturbed ground. We feel the warmth of the bright morning sun through the mist. | RichardM | 05/11/2020 |
From road junction to north. Un-mapped ROW south for a short way before going steeply up through woods. Over fence at top, then easily to summit. | PGCE | 03/11/2020 |
Buriton to Torberry Hill on a hot bank holiday Monday with excursions to Head Down, Oakham hill on the way out and to West Harting Down on the return. | Buck | 26/08/2019 |

16 miles in greyness and sleet: Petersfield - Butser Hill - Holt Down - War Down - Head Down - Oakham Hill - West Harting Down - Torberry Hill - Petersfield. Very steep ascent through trees from road to W, with one barbed wire fence to climb. Best to head up to the saddle between this and Little Torberry Hill. | Mark Jackson | 11/02/2017 |
Cocking to Petersfield. | Smudge | 27/05/2016 |
From road junc to the N. Around E side of quarry; field margin; then up steep slippery track. Through woodland and out into rough hilltop pasture. Couple of b/w stock fences. | jonglew | 02/02/2016 |
Short sharp finish to my West Sussex P30s, from sw. On descent followed main track s for a while. Direct descent too slippery in winter. | RHW | 24/01/2016 |
Very steep climb up from the road to the W. Good view from the summit to Beacon Hill & Harting Down. Small hill fort on the summit, with an ancient hawthorn. | DanMaisieBex | 17/01/2016 |
An isolated small hill standing apart from the South Downs being the site of an iron age hill contour fort from 2000 yrs ago, The summit fortifications consisted of a ditch with a rampart. Tough short, steep ascent made from west up through wood following deer tracks (and deer), with spells of rolling backwards on a steeply inclined carpet of beech nuts.(worse going down) Tall rough grass on summit. Sadly,I was just two weeks late to maybe spot the midsummer fairies that legend says appear on this hill. | Chris Pearson | 05/07/2015 |
