From Boxford church. Visited both tops.PGCE30/10/2020
As Campbell Singer. There is a Private no RoW sign as you leave the RoW to follow the wide field margin up. Lots of grassy tracks make visiting the summit area pleasant to walk on, even the woodland NW top was not too vegetated. It's all a well managed pheasant shoot with a great variety of shrubs. Today I managed to avoid disturbing pheasants or gamekeepers.pwheeler25/09/2020
4th and final tump on a traverse from Hermitage to Wickham Heath, climbing Grimsbury Castle, Snelsmore East Common and Bussock Hill, following fp that drops down onto Winterbourne road via the church then used fp that separates Hoar Hill and Boxford Common to use field margin with the intention of easily entering wood from the North but human activity next to boundary meant that i played it safe so i contoured round on field out of sight before entering wood from East, picked my way through wood to reach hut then easily from there on track to top of woodland with spaced out trees. Descent from Southern edge of woodland involved scaling deer fence twice to reach Lambourn Valley way. I took the bridge over the river to reach the road and followed Coombesbury lane but used shortcut via 127m spot through woodland to reach fp that took me to Wickham Heath and my bus stop for the bus back to Newbury.Dazingdale21/03/2020

Since 1976 the River Lambourn flowing past the hill has been used to transport water extracted upstream from boreholes in the chalk downs to London for extraction, although not in the quantities hoped for.Chris Pearson25/05/2016
Parked in what appeared to be an infrequently used gateway to the N and followed field edges until heading directly through the trees, brambles, nettles etc.Herbert Anchovy16/05/2016
From Boxford as others, initially along FP then field and wood edges.PeterD30/04/2016
As ngt: Inner field overgrown, but found track along NE edge.GordonAdshead04/09/2015
From Boxford church. Riverside path to field. Up NW ridge along field margin, then wood edge to NE of top & up tractor track into wood to summit. Big black pheasant feeder near summit. Pheasants all over the place. No pluckers though. Archaeological dig taking place in field to east. Roman site apparently.ngthack29/08/2015
Approached from S on RoW, cut NE across stubble field then into wooded top and along ridge following pheasant farmer's tracks down into Boxford.jonglew10/10/2014
(1) Woodland, SE top; (2) NW top SU 43227 71164 lower. (1) From N, long clockwise circuit via field edges; (2) from NW, Boxford, RoW then path up NW ridge is easier - our return routeRHW08/04/2012
