O: Middle summit TQ 69806 68461 is clearing N side of track. Bank around mausoleum TQ 69432 68396 is probably raised above its natural elevation during construction.

All possible parking areas on Lodge Lane/Farm have no parking signs and the larger areas are taped off. I guess like many picturesque Open Spaces, it has suffered from pandemic over use and abuse.DC11main13/06/2021

A lovely local walk that I've done hundreds of times before - a nice one for a lunchtime or evening stroll with the dog. First time counting the hill for bagging purposes. Parked, as always, in the 'car park' before the footpath by the NT tea-room, then it's a short walk up to the mausoleum. The mausoleum used to be derelict and was restored following a feature on TV's Restoration series. I remember when it had a stack of burning tyres inside! Much nicer now and open for free on summer weekends. It never actually got to be used as a mausoleum, but the building is cool, reflecting lots of different styles from Lord Darnley's travels on the Grand Tour. Lovely evening today. Cows came out to guard the mausoleum.MysteriousSue16/05/2019

FP from the N down fields crossing the M20 then alongside the HS1 Eurostar railway. Impressive woosh as a couple of trains hurtled past in a blur, just a fence away. Tried to rush to beat encroaching darkness, not easy with a cold. Went along the summit ridge over the relocated top to visit the surprisingly large and grand mausoleum – built by the Earls of Darnley when their traditional Westminster Abbey vault became full.(but was never used). A blaze caused by vandals on bonfire night 1980 brought down the floor of the chapel, damaged and blackened much of the interior and destroyed the elegant outer staircase.Chris Pearson28/03/2015
From S, RoW under rly br. Visited all 3 summits, probably all similar. Mausoleum summit is artificial bank formed from summit which has been dug out. Muddy sleety morning.RHW21/02/2015
Parked easily on minor road to SSE. Good footpath all the way but tricky to stay on the most direct one. Summit in the mausoleum. Pity about the significant fencing. No access problems - unless you want to enter the mausoleum area. All around is about the same height.destaylor06/03/2014
