Fine woodland with some large deciduous trees. Top of ancient hedge bank beside West Lodge drive is higher than anything we could find in the forest to the SW but ground at base of bank is lower than ground in forest below the Beech at SU 59818,12332. Swimming pool embankment in grounds of West Lodge is higher than hedge bank but man made. | RichardM | 15/11/2019 |

Summit lies in woodland alongside 100 Acres Road. An acre being the usual unit for measuring land area and was defined in the Middle Ages, being the amount of land that could be ploughed in one day with a yoke of oxen. The latest record with modern machinery in 1 day (24 hours) stands at 225.7 acres - just less than one square km, (source Guinness records). One acre equals 4046 square metres which is a square of land with 63 metre sides, or easier to visualise as a football pitch. | Chris Pearson | 27/09/2015 |
