Parked just past Culter Allers farm, walked around toward Windgill, followed the stony track up Cowgill Rig, then grassy ATV track to summit of Hudderstone. Returned the same way. Southerly breeze with passing showers, Culter Fell shrouded in cloud, 2:50hrs all in. Had planned on including Hillshaw Head and Gathersnow Hill, plus their tops, but wasn't feeling it.chillyman823/07/2022

Another visit to this fine hill on a beautiful morning. I was annoyed to find that the Cowgill road is now gated and no longer regarded as public - when did that happen?Colin Crawford01/09/2021

Solo. From layby at NT031312 near Culter Allers Farm. After ascending Coomb Hill, Gathersnow Hill, Hillshaw Head and Coomb Dod. I had thought of being content with these four for the day. However, I could see from Coomb Dod that a wind turbine road went a good deal of the way towards Hudderstone so I included that as well. The highest point of Hudderstone is about 5m west of the fence and marked by a pole. I descended over Snowgill Hill to the road to Culter Waterhead and down the road. Weather fine but a bit cold.pwbellarby10/09/2020

Used the new pedestrian motorway from Hillshaw. Enjoyed the shaows of the wind turbine baldes on the ground. Company: Soloiandesbottes07/01/2018
From the Cowgill Road, 400 yards SW of Windgill. A circuit of the Cowgill reservoirs: Ward Law - Woodycleuch Dod - Hudderstone, Windgate Bank - Duncangill Hardrig Head and back by Smallgill Rig and the Cowgill Upper Reservoir Dam. Swirling icy mist largely hiod the brutalist wind turbines, then gave way to afternoon sunshine, bathing the surrounding snowy hills in pink. Hard going through soft, often knee-deep snow.Nick Down116/12/2017
Walked in from the A702 at Wandel. The wind farm has been significantly extended and the track goes all the way to Hudderstone and well beyond.benalder28401/12/2017

A day spent bagging several tops. Its been a few years since I walked in this area. Its quite a shock to see the undignified spread of wind turbines with yet more tracks being bulldozed in order to site more. So RIP the Southern Uplands, your beauty and uniqueness has been raped and plundered.thenomad22/05/2016
With usual Monday walkers, J, Grays, Frank and Arthur, from P at Windgill,nr. Cuter Allers farm, up track, onto ATV track up to summit; return via Cowgill Rig. Good weather. First visit was solo on 03/06/2015.jacobus12/10/2015

Solo; walked from nr. Birthwood Farm, S of Coulter, SE/S over Ward Law and Woodycleuch Dod to summit. Returned NW/N/NE over Cowgill Hill. Bright day, sunny intervals but cold SW wind. Repeated this walk, except for using an atv track, off rough track, which led almost to summit of Ward Law, 12/10/2015, with J, Grays, Frank and Arthur; fine day's walking.trienbrae03/06/2015
