O: W end of bank which encloses a lagoon. HP of island judged to be in this locality - looks that way from south bank too - but hard to judge due to vegetation, and RSPB repairs in 2008-2009 may have changed things. N of lagoon is low-lying reedbeds

Kayak from layby to South. Channel very shallow one hour before HW on a near spring tide - half paddling, half punting . Tried to circumnavigate island but mud and vegetation continued a long way west.AndyS08/03/2020
Dawn kayak at high water from layby (SE 9628 2123). Raised bank running roughly E-W for some distance seems to be a consistent height.jonglew26/09/2018
Kayaked across from S bank, on a high Spring tide. I was an hour before high tide, at +3m and the last 30m was a muddy wade. Jon went after me (we each used his kayak in turn), just about on high tide (+3.3m) and had an easier time of it. AVOID IN SUMMER as the island hosts a sizeable population of Avocets. De facto HP is the lagoon embankment. Natural ground feels and looks highest around SW corner of lagoon. No sign of the old shooting lodge shown on some maps; just what looks to be a small bird hideRHW26/09/2018
