10/20. Really shouldn't have missed this one when I was doing the original survey of Tumps. Parked on road to W where ROW leaves it, then across to the minor summit and N up to the main summit. Thought the 169 spot height was not at the highest point so good to have that confirmed. 15 mins.Mark Jackson05/09/2023
Broad, round-topped hill, but top identifiable to within a few metres.JonRus02/08/2022
Parked opposite gate at SP 30819 40536. Straight up with no fences, cattle in field.DC11main05/06/2022
Pleasant walk on a grey wintry afternoon from lower Brailes, mainly on well marked RsoW. Also visited lower summit which is more castle like. Parked on road by George pub, resisting temptation to enter!Denise 17/12/2021
Field paths from Lower Brailes. Levelish pasture summit, access from field gate at col.RichardM17/12/2021
A circuit from Upper Brailes village hall (which displays a map of all the parish footpaths). Had lunch on the hill fort remains and then visited the scrubby pasture top.milimana25/07/2021
Wide roadside verge parking (SP 3051 4035). Took RoW between houses heading SE before veering off due N to the 169m spot height. Returned over the far nicer, but far lower, once fortified Castle Hill.jonglew14/09/2020
3 Tump circuit from Brailes. Mine Hill, Brailes Hill, Castle Hill. 11km, 300m ascent. Very nice walk with good views.PGCE29/05/2020
Stroll up lush meadow into summit field from westKC25/05/2020
Saw sheep spliced with badgers.Wycombe Wanderer26/12/2019
Frequently ascended the lower castle hill on circular walks from Upper Brailes. This time walked up from the village hall car park over the lower hill and on to the top through a gap in the hedge next to a small spinney. Descended on the north west path and followed contouring paths round Brailes Hill, having made a previous ascent of that hill.JohnW13/11/2019
Parked on the road to the west, through a couple of gates to flattish summit area with good views. Recompleted Warwickshire.clivevilla17/08/2019
From ROW to west . Skirted round back of wood and over gate to flat field topMark Sims25/07/2019
From Upper Brailes up to Castle Hill earthworks, a few local dogwalkers up there, then via gate into top pasture- Stockwell Spinney, for the HP. The lower top is the better, with a fine view of the splendid church in Lower Brailes, and will remain the popular objective I'm sure. recently cut. Flat top, but visited the options. County re-completion.pwheeler12/07/2019
Path from the SE. Straight up the smaller but better first hill and then down the other side, up to the gate and into the flat pasture.Herbert Anchovy05/07/2019
From SE on ROW initially, up to lower hill, which I presume is Castle Hill and then from gate into top pasture which has been recently cut. Flat top, but visited the options. County re-completion.PeterD02/06/2019
3rd tump of 11 on a 46.3km traverse from Goldicote bus. park to Banbury climbing Rough Hill and Idlicote hill, continuing S on fp past Pen Covert to St Denis farm, then SE just over Tus Brook into Upper Brailes, taking the aptly named Castle Hill lane then up via gates to pasture summit, recently mown. I recorded 173m @ SP 30707 40312SP, 30711 40313. Fairly level. Descent South to find gate then on fp rounding Castle Hill Motte, fp's south then West heading for Brailes Hill....Dazingdale01/06/2019
F/ps from SE as GA, up one, back the other. Used his 'under bar over wire' to overcome hedge, discovered metal gate 20m further on in hedge on return ! Extensive flat top with long grass. Wandered about, took reading some way W of spot in end.Aye Jimmy27/05/2019
As Andrew Brown. I think this is the fourth time I have completed Warwickshire. Granted, this is a pleasant addition, in a very pleasant county, but I would welcome the tamperers measuring elsewhere. The Outer Hebrides perhaps.Campbell Singer25/05/2019
Last of a 9-Tump day from Manchester. Parked to SE up footpath through long grass from Castle Hill Lane. From col into top field (over bar and under wire). A few faint tracks in the top long grass. Did not see CS. hp not at all certain, but one track did end at my selection.GordonAdshead25/05/2019
Roadside parking in Upper Brailes. Used the footpath between the houses from the west. Flat on top.andrew brown20/05/2019
From SE via RoWs, level pasture summitRHW06/04/2019
A lovely 7 km 3 Tump circular walk/ jog from Lower Brailes partially replicating the annual Brailes 3 hills walk: Mine Hill, Brailes Hill, Castle Hill. This last being a potential P30 tump I spotted from close contour study and since confirmed as a Tump. the top is set back away from the popular dog walkers row which visits the lower but more prominent mound upon which the castle presumably once stood, that gave the hill its name. I had to fend off a dog (on the row) which bit my shoe and firmly request the owner put it on its lead - NOW PLEASE!Chris Pearson27/03/2019
