Took ages to find a way to the top, basically ended up going straight up the side. The best path actually loops around - if I'd stated on it it would have taken me up | amarillo-oro-como | 02/11/2022 |
Approached walking along main road, the hill rises very sharply and their is no may of just going straight up. Took the footpath at junction of heol berry and main road, only I didn't I took the old road which involved a very steep ascent, a lot of mountain bike riding goes on her I suspect by the numerous tracks that peter out. The amount of human activity on the hill makes a natural high point long gone and the various lumps and bumps are reasonable for the current high point. A few blow downs after the current set of storms blocking some footpaths. | hodder | 21/02/2022 |
Im a local (Pentyrch) .. theres some cracking loops that take in Garth and Garth Woods .. for Garth Woods park in village hall CP and pick up the field FP at end of Cefn Bychan .. once you reach old quarry lane turn right then at gate go left into the wood and pick up the track that will take you to the top clearing .. its well worth visiting the quarry viewing platform at approx ST121825 | milejunkie | 14/01/2022 |
Parked in residential street to E. Followed RoW steeply up
Initially but the headed directly to summit in one of many informal paths. HP is unmarked but in clearing with mature beech and oak. Very impressive quarry nearby- not apparently active on a Sunday. | Denise | 05/12/2021 |
Ascended from the N side on woodland paths. Impressive deep quarry with viewing platform hinders access from the S. Levelish summit area in open woodland, ground feels quite disturbed. | RichardM | 05/12/2021 |

I messed this one up by parking in Pentyrch and having to walk back along the busy road. You can park in the wide entrance to the quarry at 109825. Up the quarry road to the entrance to the quarry where there is a path to the left which goes to the summit. | clivevilla | 29/08/2020 |
From Pentywch to the west along paths in woods. Top in clearing near trees. | PeterD | 31/07/2020 |
From the quarry road on the Pentyrch road. The gate is locked at times so inadvisable to drive further up. Pleasant mature wood. With Barbara. | Campbell Singer | 17/07/2020 |

Saw this pop up as a new TUMP so decided to make it the morning dog walk. nice aerobic walk from the north through the woods on a variety of tracks. Top is on the edge of a clearing about 100m from rim of the spectacular quarry. | Father Ted | 13/03/2020 |
From Radyr, found my way along maze of tracks through quarry to summit in woods. Pleased to find this is now a Tump, gives me a nice armchair tick and fortunately preserves my Cardiff completion date! | Tony J | 08/03/2009 |
