12 mile walk from Capel Curig starting in sunshine, followed road then up boggy path to water channel, followed water channel to foot of Y Braich ridge and climbed to Pen Yr Helgi Du, the weather was still good by this time but the Glyders went into cloud, descended and steeply ascended onto Pen Llithrig Y Wrach, descended to end of reservoir and ascended pathless slopes onto Creigiau Gleison, by this time the weather had took a turn for the worst, we nearly went into cloud. Followed rough path onto Craiglwyn, then climbed up Craig Wen and Crimpiau, by this time every hill we had done earlier went into cloud, descended to Capel Curig. Great but strenuous walk, if we had started an hour later all the walk would have probably been in cloud! | DanTrig | 09/04/2017 |

My 8th Summit of the day on an epic traverse of the Carneddau from Llanfairfechan to Capel Curig, taking in Carnedd Y Ddelw, Drum, Foel Fras, Carnedd Gwenllian, Foel Grach, Yr Elen, Carnedd Llewellyn and took fp following the ridgeline down South East with great views down onto Ffynnon Lugwy reservoir, followed by an exciting scramble down onto the ridge linking with Pen Yr Helgi du. Care is needed but there are plenty of options, the scramble up Pen Yr Helgi du is good too and makes you surprised to find that this isnt a Hump at the very least. The summit area is pretty small and is close to the very steep drop | Dazingdale | 05/07/2014 |

I set off from Carnedd Llewelyn towards Foel Grach but in poor visibility turned back to wander down the mountain, pausing to admire the views down to the Amphitheatre, on which sheep were positioned precariously on ledges. (On a later walk we were told that one sheep had stayed on a ledge for weeks if not months and had to be rescued with rope.) The vertical rocks were difficult to descend, but having done it I felt emboldened to try Pen yr Helgi Du. The path did indeed have very steep drops to the left but it was possible to keep away and close to the rocks on the right. A glance back showed that the mist had now cleared from Carnedd Llewelyn. The path continued downwards along grass and then alongside a leat as far as the Ffynnon Llugwy road on which I started. | peter4lc | 25/08/2002 |

In the early 1990s before I had even heard of Simms I did my own personal challenge of all the 600m peaks in Wales. I have a record of the summits but not the dates so I have selected this arbitrary date within the period for them all. Some I missed but this was one I did. | dickscroop | 01/07/1994 |

Date of my first ascent of this summit. I love the ridge walk actross the narrow defile to Craig yr Ysfa- not so exciting to Carnedd Llewellyn but then a great walk on the high ridges of the Carneddau. That's when it's nice. I once abandoned an attempt to get up this hill after half the party had been blown off their feet,. | pwheeler | 17/09/1975 |
