From end of minor road to the west of Derrybridge, west of Tralee. A small track goes between fields from the end of the dead end tarmac road(parking) to the open hillside. Steeply up on mainly pathless heather and moss to Gearhane, then grassy ridge to Caherconree, with huge sandstone cairn , then east to Bauttregaum, with trig and windshelters. Ridge in cloud, windy, no views. Descend via NE top, south over grass to Scragg , then thick pathless bracken and heather steeply down NW to the Dingle Way. Cross Derrymore river on footbridge and ascend to path junction and back to car.Denise 24/06/2023

Solo. From the minor road to the west. From the start of the rough path to Caherconree (promontory fort) where there is limited parking. Followed path, which is marked on the ground with posts but is not marked on the OSi 1:50,000 map. Continued to summit cairn of Caherconree and on to Baurtregaum. Returned same way. Thick mist all the time and rain most of the time.pwbellarby23/07/2018

Route: Derrymore - Scragg - Baurtregaum - Caherconree - Gearhane - Derrymore Strand Approx. Stats: 5.5hrs, 12km, 950m ascent Weather: windy & misty on peaks, but no rain; fine at low altitudes Notes: v. challenging ascent/descent due to lack of paths & lots of gorse/heather etc.millionmts21/10/2016
Claggy day up top and climbed from sea level, warm and wet until the strong winds on the top came in and the clag turned to rain. Not much in the way of views, but the sense there were some good ones to be had. With NP and MT.kenmorti15/07/2016
Parked Derrymore Strand, then back and turned L along main road, then R up minor road after c400 yds. L at top into grassy lane then through iron gate onto moor, with ruins and modern cottages on R. Faint track into Derrymore gorge. Crossed burn and slog up rough steep grass to main summit. Very poor conditions, cloud very low all day and wet. Returned same way, for paddle in beach. With KM and MT.niallp15/07/2016
Parked (free) at Derrymore Strand (IQ 73139 11020). Took lane up to N86 and along verge east (busy road) to Derrymore. Then took lane up to farm, over moor, crossing Kerry Way into the cwm. Followed a bit of a path to above stream junction. Then steeply up north ridge to Pt. 723m and up to summit. Returned the same way. Foul weather. With KM and NP.Man of Kernow115/07/2016
