Nuttall route 5.3. Good path down to Bwlch Stwlan but surprisingly a little exposed near the bottom. Solo.Dangerous Dave21/07/2023
Parked at upper Tanygrisiau car park and took the lower SW footpath (faint at times) up towards the dam and around the upper cwm to Bwlch Stwlan. Clear ridge path out and back to Moelwyn Bach and along to Craigysgafn, Moelwyn Mawr and Moel yr hydd. Return to 566m bwlch and SE descent to tarmac road from power station. Hot but hazy half day walk, very dry underfoot. Solorichard6912/06/2023

Steep descent from Moelwyn Mawr, some tricky climbing to summit but otherwise perfectly doable. Great views of reservoir and Moelwyn Bach, which had to give a miss due to ankle injury on summitting this peakgiant_hiker12/07/2020
8 mile circular from minor road south of Croesor, walked down to Croesor then good path up side of Cwm Croesor to the ghostly Rhosydd quarry, from there followed footpath south and traversed grassy slopes onto Foel Ddu, then onto Moel-Yr-Hydd, from here we headed SW past the big quarrying hole and up steep grass slopes to Moelwyn Mawr, from here headed down steeply onto Craigysgafn, then interesting rocky descent down to Bwlch Stylan, up onto Moelwyn Bach then back down to car. Great weather with amazing views of every high peak in Snowdonia and all the way along Cardigan Bay, Moelwyn Mawr is probably my favourite view in Snowdonia, considering it was a sunny sunday there were only a few people about. Afterwards drove to and bagged Y Garnedd and Carreg Y Foel-Gron.DanTrig12/07/2020
From Croesor: Cnicht, Cnicht North Top, Moel-yr-hydd, Moelwyn Mawr North Top, Moelwyn Mawr, Craigsgafyn. With a small group from Hiking Manchester. Day started brigt and clear, then became very misty and difficult to navigate. Had to abandon walk and miss out Moelwyn Bach. One for another day...Lazylizzie02/11/2019

Parked at croesor, circular walk. Ascent to cnicht, followed path to edge of llyn yr Adar, took a south towards the quarry, ascent to moelwyn mawr, decent down craigysgfan, then west down valley to road.noxibis17/11/2018
This was a great walk. Not sunny but dry and cloud was generally quite high. Great view of Porthmadog and other tops. Loved the ruined quarry landscapes. Hard to comprehend how huge these quarries were and how many people they employ unless you actually go there and walk round. Started in Tanygrisia and up to Rhosydd Quarry, Moel-yrHydd, past the huge 'twll', North Ridge Top, Moelwyn Mawr,Craigysgafn, Moelwyn Bach, down to Croesor village, Cnicht, North Top and then back to the quarry via the col and down to Tanygrisia.tsharp10/09/2018

From layby off A496 near Tan-y-grisiau. 3rd of 6 summits in clockwise circuit of the Moelwyns. Quick and simple ascent following ridge from Moelwyn Bach.muzza206/07/2018

Start from Beddgelert to Moelwyn Mawr, return via Moelwyn Bach and Cnicht, back to Beddgelert, 20.8 miles.stephenbuda17/05/2018
From layby on south side of Tanygrisiau. Solo. After ascending Moelwyn Bach descended on west side and then went up old incline on the west side of Craigysgafn. Then easily gained summit of Craigysgafn. Followed path to summit of Moelwyn Mawr (next to trig point). Visibility poor so rather unnecessarily descended WNW before going N and E to pass over the col between Moelwyn Mawr and Moelwyn Mawr North Ridge Top and back to Tanygrisiau.pwbellarby09/04/2018
Following the road to the dam then over to bwlch stwlan then a cheeky scramble to the top. We returned the same wayAristotle Chip30/03/2018

Solo. Wet & Windy. Cloud variable during the day but down to around 15-20 metres on the approach from Moelwyn Mawr. Easy enough though. Interesting bit on the descent that the rain elevated to a minute or two of near excitement after a long wet day of slogging through bogs and heather from Cnicht. I suspect there may have been a few wobblies thrown there over the years.Aimless Rambler27/01/2016
