From Blaenau Ffestiniog taking in Moel Penamnen,Foel-Fras, Manod Mawr North Top & Manod Mawr. Beautiful clear winter day with a hoar frost, blue skies and extensive views. Difficult to navigate, finished in darkness with head torches.Lazylizzie30/11/2019

From Bethania following the incline and skirting the quarry northwards.jrj26/09/2017
Descended into the mist and the white space on the map that is the disused quarry. Ended up skirting the western edge of the spoil heaps which towered above me in the mist. Steeply up the edge of spoil heaps to below the summit crags, then up a ravine between them and the spoil to gain the quarry edge. Descended same way, to the Llyn and then Manod Bach.Minto11/06/2017

With Martin Roberts from Blaenau Ffestiniog taking in Moel Penamnen, Manod Mawr North Top & Manod Mawr. Rather grey overcast day.knarf09/04/2017
Aproach from Manod Mawr, thought I could skirt round east side of Graig-Ddu Quarry but ended up nipping along access road to Manod Quarries for about 250m then followed fence to summit from the east. On west side of fence rock W of large cairn looked to be slightly higher.SteveSmith11/10/2016
Did this walk on a Sunday. A good day because to get to Manod Mawr top I dropped on the quarry road and cross the bwlch on this. Strictly out of bounds but on a non working day a good way of getting across. Lovely views from the top.johnjennison02/10/2016

Continuation of walk from Manod Mawr. Followed faint path NNW past pool to quarry, then wide track up to within 100m of summit. Over a stile and up to summit cairn. To return, descended to quarry and took incline track all the way down to A470 at Bethania. With DM.Man of Kernow114/02/2016

Clockwise circular round from Blaenau Ffestiniog. Garreg Ddu - Moel Farlwyd - Moel Penamnen - Foel Fras - Manod Mawr North Top - Manod Mawr - Manod Bach. The extremely large building in Maen-offeren Quarries is well worth a peek inside. It's like an industrial museum. The descent off Manod Mawr to the northern tip of Llyn y Manod is fairly ghastly!David Gradwell11/08/2013
SO MUCH FINE WEATHER AT BALA THAT HAD TIME TO DO ONE OF THE LLANRWST BASED WALKS, NUTTALLS WALK 5.4. DROVE TO BLAENAU FFESTINIOG AND WALKED UP THROUGH QUARRY. JOYCE TURNED BACK AT THE TOP AS MOORLAND CROSSING LOOKED PATHLESS AND BORING - WHICH IT WAS. EASY ASCENT OF MOEL PENAMNEN, THEN LONG AND BOGGY CROSSING TO MANOD MAWR N. TOP AND ROUND QUARRY TO MANOD MAWR. COULD'T FIND ROUTE OFF INCLINE SO HAD LONG WALK BACK THROUGH VILLAGE.BURGESS11/08/2013
As part of a circular walk of Moel Farlwyd, Moel Penamnen, Foel Fras. Manod Mawr North Top, Manod Mawr and Manod Bach. The south side of this summit is being heavily attached by the quarry and may soon be lost.JohnStoneham04/06/2013
From Tanygrisiau, over to Bethania and up the incline. Had a bit of difficulty finding the route from the road but otherwise it's just a long slog through a spoilt landscape. Hideous quarry aside, I thought it to be a fine mountain top.Jake99423/09/2012
From Foel Fras. Quite boggy in parts of the way across.clivevilla26/08/2012
Splendid views. Hope this hill doesn\'t get quarried out of existence.Herbert Anchovy29/05/2012

Second day of CUHWC Caseg Fraith Trip. With DP. Entire Blaneau skyline from Manod Bach to Craig Nyth-y-Gigfran. Fantastic and interesting walk in excellent weather!AGWilliamson13/11/2011
Much more quarrying and this old girl won't be there any more! It was a Sunday and quite easy to walk across the top qaurry track to Manod Mawr. Not sure if you'd be allowed to do this in the week (not that there were any signs that said you couldn't).tsharp07/08/2011
Car park in centre of Blaenau Ffestiniog – Maen Offeren Quarries (disused) – Moel Penamnen – Menod Mawr North Top – Menod Mawr – Blaenau Ffestiniog. (JL)gerrybowes02/03/2011
Following Nuttall walk 5.4. We found the area very wet but the walking was ok, it was an easy walk to the summit. We walked south and looked down into the abyss of the missing half of the mountain, an amazing sight.SteveClay26/02/2011
Start/finish: Blaenau Ffestiniog Distance covered: 7.8 miles Weather: Miserable clag and wind Camp: N/A Extras: Walked with Arenig, Peakbagger, RamblingPete, Yamyam, HowieWillowisp17/11/2010

In mist until coming off Moel Penamnen getting round in 4 hrs 35 min. Navigation was very strange and Google Earth revealed the extent to which the quarry has grown since the maps were surveyed. Good day - shame about the weather. Anti-clockwise circuit.SS10/10/2010
From Moel Penamnen on a misty day. Nuttall's route says to carry on south for Manod M, but couldn't see anything in the mist, so skirted east. A wise move juding by some online photos!huwthomas27/09/2010

After the trig pointed top we headed across the quarry to this top before picking our way down the quarry back to B.F.ChinnockC26/05/2008
Mainly cloudy, little sun, occasional showers. Quite windy on the tops. Bogs and also high heather at some sections slowed us downjoseph mitchell25/09/2007
This top is very near the quarry edge, which is unfenced and I saw no warning signs, on a clear day. It is no more hazardous than any other mountain top cliff edge (you fall over you die!) but the Nuttal 'map' certainly does not show the full extent of tsteve12/09/2007
