From Llangynog | JDMCGARRIGLE | 13/01/2024 |
From Llangynog (free parking) E along minor road then RoW to 072278. Ascent on easy grass to 608m top. Back to col then beside the fence NW over the shoulder of Y Clogydd. Over easy grass along the line of the RoW SW to Bedd Crynddyn. Followed fence around danger area and up easy grass to Craig Rhiwarth. Returned NE at first then followed good path down Nant Sebon to reach the starting tracks. | Moorponder | 21/06/2023 |
Parked in Llangynog for a 4 Dewey walk. Roughly followed Wayne's good route on RoW up alongside Nant Sebon to the sheepfolds, then using the small tracks on west slope of Moel Crynddyn and onto Craig Rhiwarth. Then along the Y Clogydd ridge to Glan-hafon, high point + trig. Returned down the bridleway to Llangynog for lunch. In the afternoon headed up the RoW alongside the now closed Revolution Bike Park, then followed the forest road to the top of Carnedd Das Eithin. Not wanting to go all the way back to the cross roads, I risked the narrow strip of dense woodland. So went to the corner at SJ 0474 3204, where there is even a gateway into the what is marked as a ride. In reality it is an avenue of young deciduous trees, with sufficient space to squeeze through. My gamble paid off, and I was on my way up to Ffordd Gefn without too much difficulty. Access via ride at bend in fence. A windy day with heavy showers but beautiful rainbows as well. 22km with 1600m ascent taking me | silveracorn_alan | 10/04/2023 |

solo . with Y Clogydd & Craig Rhiwarth. | Fabioski | 02/08/2022 |
From Godor via Gardenn and Gorwallt. Easy terrain but a long, steep ascent. Back to Tan-y-pistyll via Craig y Mwn. Watched cloud lifting from Cadair Berwyn but no sunshine now. Could have descended via disused quarry but couldn't see the route on the map. Discovered my reading glasses in my pocket later and could have used them. Anyway, it was nice staying high for a bit and rounding the impressive valley head. 23km, 4 hours. | Wycombe Wanderer | 21/01/2022 |
From Llangynog. Craig Rhiwarth and Glan-hafon. | Gwastadros | 19/11/2021 |
Three separate walks in one day: Foel Cwm-Sian LLwyd; Post Gwn; and Glan-hafon. Separate reports for each summit. Of the three Glan-hafon was by far the pleasantest. Took the start from the barn mentioned below though I parked at the end of the surfaced road about 200m short of it. Really only room for one car here, more space if you drive up the track to the barn and it is not too rough. Followed the fence line all the way in and out. Easy grass and no problems with the side fences, all had either a gap (gate missing), a stile or a gate to climb. At the very end there was a fence to climb but low and no barbed wire. Can't understand the comment about finding the top. There is a quite substantial cairn on a rocky knoll clearly visible from the trig point. If it is cloudy just keep following the fence for a short way. When the barbed wire stops that is the place to cross the fence and the top is about 20 metres from that point. | dickscroop | 29/09/2021 |
Parked in Llangynog for a Seven mile walk to Craig Rhiwarth and onto Glan - Hafon, via Nant Sebon and following a track to the end on the north side of Moel Crynddyn, then walking on the west side of this hill to reach the first top. After retracing my steps back to the 505 meter top I used the track around the head of the valley and struck across Y Clogydd to reach the col with a cross works of paths and finally up to the second top. Retraced my steps back to the col to follow the bridle way back to the minor road leading to Llangynog. Five hours. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 15/08/2021 |
as MikeM visit high point near fence trig and cairn to west | underhill | 06/08/2021 |
Had a bit of trouble finding my start but eventually managed. The start is at SJ 09610 26970 at a barn and a tied up gate. So started and followed a good track upwards and continued on this for a mile. Branched off the track and followed a fence on the right round for about three quarters of a mile to the top. Finding the actual top is a little difficult. The top is a large lump by the fence but the top of the lump is flatish. Down was a continuation of the fence until back at the barn and car. Pleasant walk either by the track or a lot of sheep trods by the fence and this on grass so easy walking | MikeM | 18/06/2021 |
From Llangynog for a round of Ffordd Gefn,	Carnedd Das Eithin, Craig Rhiwarth and Glan-hafon. | rhalstead | 12/09/2020 |
From Llangynog. Pistyll Rhaeadhl path, then sheep tracks over short grass to summit and rocky knoll. Nice hill. | PGCE | 20/08/2020 |
3 possible HPs along ridge- cairn to W seemed higher than OS SH and Trig, but hard to say. Blustery with occ. sun, dry- superb views. From Craig Rhiwarth and then to Cyrniau | Denise | 05/08/2020 |
From Craig Rhiwarth by track then rough pasture. A complex summit of lumps. Pity the nice rock outcrop with cairn is just lower. Good views from trig. | RichardM | 05/08/2020 |
Pistyll Rhaeadr, Craig Rhiwarth, Glan-Hafon, return. | ijpowell | 12/07/2019 |
As in 2018, a mid Wales May BH weekend with the highest hill a Tump! Really good walk from Tan-y-pistyll- up by the rim of Craig y Mwn, down through the quarries, enjoying the sprawling slopes to the summit in dry conditions. Evidently popular: like most, we had lunch on the rocky top after visiting the grassy true summit ca.20 cm higher. Finished along the valley from the quarries along a RoW that looks like and old quarry railway track bed, a delight, leading right to Pistyll Rhaedr. With Pete | pwheeler | 06/05/2019 |
A nice jaunt out and back from Llangynog. Visited current summit, the trig and the rocky outcrop with the Stoneman. | Eddie | 24/08/2018 |
13.2 mile walk from Pistyll Rhaeadr, climbed up path by Nant Y Llyn then followed dried up stream onto the ridge (very rough), went out and back to Godor, then followed ridge over Moel Yr Ewig and lovely trail up face of Cadair Berwyn above the almost dried up tarn, joined ridge up to Cadair Berwyn summit (2nd time) and onto along to Moel Sych (2nd time), then descended path south onto Trum Felen ridge, then cut down the side on grass to footbridge over Afon Disgynfa, climbed on grass then hideous heather to Post Gwyn, then followed ridge pathless but fairly easy terrain all the way to Glan-Hafon (have to cross several fences on ridge one with barbed wire), then descended down lane and path to Pistyll Rhaeadr. Started walk in cloud, but got sunnier as the day went on and very hot, storm clouds towards end, didn't see anyone throughout: 6hrs 35. | DanTrig | 13/07/2018 |
From Post Gwyn. Visited the unusual cairn as well as the trig. Had a long lie down in the sun by the cairn as it was a lovely sunny day and the views were wonderful. Then down to the falls for a pot of tea. | Herbert Anchovy | 24/06/2018 |
Parked as destaylor. Track through yard past barn then fence line all the way to the trigpoint. Then onwards to the summit by fence. Rained on way back. | Aye Jimmy | 02/06/2018 |
