Fabulous sunny day, blue skies, light (but cold) S wind. | NorfolkPT21 | 13/02/2023 |
From Dolgellau, via Ty'n-y-Bryn and the byway from Bwlch Coch. Gusts of 50mph plus and cloud cover down to below 500m for much of the walk, this was a very hard walk. The forecast for clearing weather did not materialise and I abandoned any hopes of continuing on to Mynydd Moel. Having said all that, it's a really good route, just pick a clear day! | thesweetcheat | 11/11/2022 |
From Kings YH. Up onto ridge via Pony Path, then west to Craig-las before returning east and along to Cyfrwy, Cadair Idris, Mynydd Moel and Gau Graig. Minfordd - Llyn Cau - Craig Cwm Amarch - Cyfrwy - Cadair Idris - Mynydd Moel - Gau Graig - NE ridge to path at bottom - road pass (Bwlch Llyn Bach) - return to Minfordd via Cwm Rhwyddfor. Time 6 hours. Leading Robin, Sam, Katherina (preparing for MLT). Fine day. Good visibility throughout though increasing cloud mid afternoon and spot of rain. An excellent route on a fine (but busy) mountain ... second time I have done this peak by the exact same route! | jamessteel100 | 19/04/2017 |
Revisited this one following relocation of high point! Ascended from CP at top of pass on A487 (full of plane spotters!), following fenceline. Looks impossibly steep but there is a very good track all the way - a really enjoyable climb. | Crib Goch | 11/04/2017 |

Parked in Gwernan Lake Hotel car park expecting to be charged £5 on return which the owner kindly waived. Don't expect same courtesy in peak season. Followed Foxes path to col between Cadair Idris & Mynydd Moel, 2½ hours to do just under 2½ miles. Plan was to do all 5 easerly Nuttalls but felt too tired to attempt so headed east and picked off Mynydd Moel and Gau Graig. Steep descent and long walk from Mynydd Moel to Gau Graig persuaded me I did not want to return for CAdair Idris etc so descended down and along Gau Craig on well defined footpath not shown on maps, returning to hotel from Ty'n-y-bryn and Bwlch-coch along road. Tough route of 8.86 miles and 901m of ascent. Would recommend this as an ascent route to visit these two Nuttalls then on to Cadair Idris and two others nearby. | mntainman | 10/03/2016 |

TIME IN WALES RUNNING OUT SO HAD TO DO NUTTALLS WALK 10.1 ALTHOUGH MISTY AND DAMP ON THE TOPS AND NO VIEW OF THE CLIFFS BUT SUNNY ON THE WAY UP PAST LLYN CAU. EASY ASCENT UP THE TOURIST PATH OVER CRAIG CWM AMARCH AND CUT ACROSS ON EASY GRASS TO PONY PATH FOR CYFRWY THEN BACK TO CADAIR IDRIS. NEARLY WENT DOWN THE FOXES PATH BY MISTAKE IN THE MIST BUT EVENTUALLY GOT OVER MYNYDD MOEL AND CAU GRAIG. BOOK DIRECTIONS TAKE YOU OVER A CLIFF OFF THIS ONE SO WENT FURTHER WEST AND CAME DOWN N.E. From Dolgellau, Pandy woods to minor road and then fenceline to Gau Craig ridge, reasonable views becoming increasingly misty to around 30 metres, rain drizzle at first becoming more persistent throughout the whole day until descent. Beautiful landscape. Climbed off obvious path to reach summit cairn and then continued on route to Mynydd Moel. | Dazingdale | 08/05/2014 |
From Minffordd car park, walk 10.1 of the Nuttalls' Volume 1, Wales. Total walk 0930 to 1600. With Penda. Cold, very windy and violent hailstorms on the tops, even snowed on Cadair Idris. Cloudy above 2,000ft. Good views from summit and on descent, book very vague about last bit down this hill - a wearying slog back to car. | beorwulf | 21/03/2014 |

Started from lay by on A487, a couple of miles N of the main Cader iris car park. Track out of back of lay by easy to follow. Eventually we went up steeply beside a fence, then a hands and feet climb for a hundred meters? Then a walk to the summit. 2.5 K in 1.5 hours. GPS showed the summit to be just ovet 1Km from car park. Another 4 k down over easy to follow paths which should show no problems after the climb up, to the car park. | Malcvolm | 11/08/2012 |

A there and back trot from Mynydd Moel. Not many folk on here and I bet when its wet its a boggy old walk. Unless you are a peak bagger not an obvious one to do as its out on a limb, we descended a dodgy route back to the fence and the Minffordd car park. | SteveClay | 29/04/2006 |
