Last one of the day, a bot of a boggy walk across the grassy moorland with a few bogs to get through, rewarded with another great view of most of the ranges around, carried onto Maes Du and came straight down towards the road to complete a circular route.Buckleymon01/09/2023

A pleasant enough clockwise round of the fells above Aberllefenni made a little more exciting by my having difficulty in finding a clear route into Cwm Ratgoed.oldbagger2717/06/2023

From mapped roadside parking area to NNE (SH 8021 1702). Good track leads up to Cribin Fawr first, then a divert across to Waun-oer before getting back on track to Craig Portas, its E Top and then across to here. On to Maen Du before a steep descent.jonglew16/10/2022

Barry's final Welsh Marilyn, with large group, whisky and cake. Small cairn on levelish grassy summit. Grey but dry, with clear views. We descended NW over steep grass to ascend Ochr y Bwlch after visiting E summit.Denise 16/10/2022

From Dinas Mawddwy, from a lay-by on the A470,steep initial ascent through the forest on a good track with steps, then open hillside crossing awkward ground to Bwlch Siglen. Steep ascent to the left of falls to the escarpment. Past the Devil's Point and followed the rim of steep cliffs all the way to Maen Du. Made short diversion eastwards to Craig Rhiw-erch (true summit), marked by very small cairn. Returned bu North East spur from Maen Du, track marked on map, non existent, extremely steep grassy slopes down to a bwlch before MoelCwm yr Eglwys, skirted this to the right on a good track all the way down to Ty'n -y-celyn and the A470, about 3km roadside verge walking back to the car. 5 hours total time, overcast but good visibility, didn't see a single other person on the hill.Marksalop15/04/2022
From the layby on the A470 SH 839 162 along the RoW to the S (somewhat obtructed by fallen trees) through the farm, and onto the permissive path towards the access land (signed). Up the track then path marked on the 1:25K OS up the S flank of Moel Cwm yr Eglwys the path which, once beyond the bwlch is there but fairly indistinct on the ground. Small cairn (near to) the top. Returned direct down the nose of Maen Du down the fence line (very steep). Met the farmer with three hand reared lambs on return.sebastiencale14/04/2022

From car park at top of pass, followed path over Cribin Fwar, then dogleg out to Waun-oer, back to stile below Cribin Fawr, followed path and fence line to Craig Portas then onto Maesgkase. Decent over Maen Du down NE ridge, then PROW to A470. Where 2nd car parked.7.6miles, 3hr 40 walking, 2348ft ascent. Really pleasant walk with added excitement of some snow showers.JulieB04/01/2022

South from car park on A470 at top of pass. Found a good path west of crags, in Scotland I would have called it a stalkers' path, all the way up to the wall, much shorter than the path to the east and easy going. Then along the wall over Cribin Fawr to Waun-oer, back a short way to drop easily down to forest track, followed to end and then an easy line back up to fence, Craig Portas and Maen Du. Dropped down to Penintag Uchaf and back on road. Afternoon pleasant walk along the fences to Pen y Brynfforchog.dickscroop11/11/2021
Parked at milkstand and walked 500m back along A470 to Ty'n-y-celyn and tracks to Maen Du and summit. Returned by Craig Maesglase to admire cwm and waterfall.lordtonult19/09/2021

Afternoon hike with my brother and his 3 children in >25° heat. Climbing from car park at Ochr y Bwlch to Cribin Fawr (659m), then making a dog-leg to Waun-oer (670m), before following horse-shoe ridge round to Maen Du (674m) on Maesglase. Descended to Dolobran. ~11Km with 790m ascent.VirtualMountain17/07/2021

Maesglase & Maen Du - Dyfi Hills. Parked on A470 large lay-by at SH 82643 16350 at Pont Buarth-Glas. SE over rickety fence onto hillside and followed the W side of the stream cutting through the LHS of Craig Buarth-Glas, extremely steep requiring lots of pulling on vegetation, collapsing ledges and loose rock, exciting. Up to fence and Moel cwm yr Eglwys then ridge and path to Maen Du and fence to Maesglase summit. Descended NW spur of Maen Du to around 450m then steeply down bracken and grass to cross Nant y Cae at 270m and easy pastures to gate onto A470 just W of lay-by. A really impressive mountain, tough from the north with sustained slopes of 45 degrees.jacobrichmond22/11/2020
from A470 to east, up beautiful cwm to Bwlch Siglen and along cliff tops to Maen Du, then west to main summit and down via steep NE ridge of Maen Du.IanHHill11/10/2020
