Glorious but slightly difficult path shown on map that gradually diagonally climbed the hillside of low level bramble, bracket and small ocasional oak and birch saplings. I had to pick my way up very slowly as the paths was skanty and sloping Annfield required clearing all the way up with my secateurs of bramble stalls that could've made the descent more dodgy of its not been fairly fastidious about completing this all the way up including oak & birch doling branches.
It really helped the decent considerably.
One on top it was beautiful grassy meadow with picturesque patchwork

Parked at the farm at Gelli with the kind permission of the farmer. Then steeply up. | Alan Caine | 28/05/2022 |
Parked by chapel and started on footpath over bridge. Soon became very nettley, so took direct route up. Much the same as nordicstar. Trig and summit. | PGCE | 21/08/2020 |
Parked alongside door of chapel at SJ 0569 0902 (Space for 1 car) - Over makeshift footbridge & along RoW to Tan-y-foel where woman who lives there kindly loaned me her walking poles. These proved to be useful when continuing along RoW across steep E. face; brambles not as vigorous at this time of year, but still a tripping hazard - Once on ridge, SSW up over short sheep pasture to gate below trig point & across to small summit cairn. From Four Crosses a more or less direct ascent. Returned down the SW/S ridge initially alongside a fence through thickish vegetation at lower levels to get into a field and through woodland to pick up the outward route. | Jim.Fothergill | 25/11/2018 |
An impressively steep hill. Parked at chapel, space for one car. Went pretty much straight up. Fences and brambles lower down. Back via woodland which worked ok too. With R and B. | jenx | 24/11/2018 |
Parked at the chapel by Four Crosses. As Jenx description, brambles a pain but avoided in the woods to WNW on way down. With Bryher too | nordicstar | 24/11/2018 |
Up and down from the chapel. Purgatorial brambles at this time of the year. | Eddie | 23/08/2018 |

Undulating sheep pasture with trig, though the HP is a few m away . Superb clear views- great hill. We ascended the steep rocky cliff to the South- harder than it looked and fun- and descended on the overgrown and somewhat precarious right of way. Parking was awkward. We parked with permission outside a house just south of Four Crosses. | Denise | 16/02/2018 |
From Four Crosses via field path then steep rough springy grass to the more interesting banded rocks (more difficult than they first appear!) Great views from summit. High point 60m WNW of trig pillar. | RichardM | 16/02/2018 |
That enticing looking path across the E face was as awkward as other logs say- melting snow and not taking a walking pole made it feel precarious. Nice hill and summit though. I decided to cut down easier slopes to Gyfylchau- many horse hoofprints and much mud on track to the farm, though there was a solid surface just underneath. NB this is a trespass, good gates all the way. There is a ROW at the farm, accessed by what looks like the farm's rubbish tip. I solved the parking problem by parking on the side road at Four Crosses- well no objections in February. Sunny afternoon after light snow. | pwheeler | 06/02/2018 |
6/7 (Mynydd y Cemmaes/Esgair Ddu/Moel Eiddew/Mynydd Waun Fawr/Disgwylfa/Moel Bentrych/Galt Yr Ancr) Do not attempt in summer very heavy bramble growth makes the track up east side precarious | Fergalh | 05/08/2017 |
With Trefor. From Gelli. Followed footpath that diagonally crosses the east face. Then up ridge to TP and summit. Very heavy shower just short of summit. | mike.hoult | 14/05/2017 |
Just enough time to leg it up here and still cycle over to Welshpool for the 1656 train home (but it was close). Delightful view and one I'd love to come back to savour again and again. | Alex C | 29/04/2017 |
Nice hill with entertaining path up slopes -not much in way of parking anywhere nearby | Mark Sims | 28/06/2016 |
With Edie...on my shoulders.. an interesting climb up.. precarious to put it mildly. A superb wee hill. A great way to break up the journey to the coast. | stig_nest | 18/07/2015 |
Parked by the chapel due south (space for a couple of cars)and used the marked path to get to the farm. The loose footpath up the eastern face is very loose and faint in places, this may be a safer ascent in full winter conditions, I was certainly wishing for an ice axe to jam in when the path was crumbling. | JohnStoneham | 16/07/2014 |
Parked at Gelli, very rough path but terrific hill. | Chris Peart | 13/07/2014 |
From the east. Parked by farm on minor road. | clivevilla | 24/10/2013 |
From SJ 057 088 | summitsup | 20/11/2011 |
Parked at road end to SE (not very satisfactory) and took loose path across face of hill. Obvious summit to west of trig point with small cairn. | chriswatson | 04/05/2011 |
Parked at RHB to SE. Followed path across hillside - walking stick handy. Fine top. | destaylor | 16/03/2011 |
Bagged the trig on the morning of a friends wedding. Also wandered across to the highest point but did not log this with the GPS. | TomL | 25/07/2009 |
great views all around. excellent panorama for a small hill | DARRENG | 04/12/2008 |
Revisit. Fine little hill, lovely view. Moderately brackeny slopes this time of year. | RHW | 12/08/2007 |
Parked on A458 then approached directly from SW. | garyhoney | 19/08/2006 |
Short but steep climb on very loose footings if sloping across the face. limited parking | Rhayader_wander | 29/03/2006 |
