| Parked at the Eilean Duirinnis road end and walked back down the road past the entrance to the house and boulder field. Straight up from there through the woods which wasn't particularly pleasant (steep and rocky) but better once through the trees and more so above 250m (would be bracken below this in summer). Nice from here to top of Beinn Duirinnis. Down to the col (the line of the burn below and right of the summit give a rock free descent), over the deer fence and up Phlacaig S Top (great summit!). Easy to Phlacaid and to the next col then dropped slightly to c380m to contour round the lower slopes of Mheadhonach below the rocks. Up Biorach and easily on to Meall Dearg Far S and Dearg itself. Descended SE north of the Cadderlie Burn - OK at first but increasingly tussocky once in the trees (no upper deer fence). | From good parking a few yards SE of Blarcreen bridge and up the good grassy track through lovely oak woods. The track continues through a gateway and along the fence more soggily, then heads up boggy ground to a stand of trees and a galvanised water tank, then a little further across wet ground before expiring and becoming a deer track through the old wall. After the wall, you can either follow dry deer tracks traversing what looks like nice grass but is broken and bouldery or easier but very wet deer tracks through boggy ground below, emerging with great relief at a prominent smooth bump below the hillside. Easy deer tracks across a bog, then contour steeply up nice dry mossy grass to join a stream up into a shallow coire below Ceann Creige from where it is easy to traverse below the steep ground, cross the shoulder of Ceann Creige, then go slightly down then up past a bump into a wide valley then onto the ridge leading to the summit of Beinn Duirinnis. | Route as per the Hugh's book. Parked at the quarry car park at Bonawe, then about 3km on the path past the quarry and along the loch shore to Rubha na Craige, then up through a bit of bracken and a few trees onto the ridge. Grassy ridge all the way to the summit, dodging around the rock outcrops. To descend took the ridge heading largely SW back to Bonawe avoiding all the crags, relatively steep but nice and grassy. | A round of the Blarcreen tops, starting besides the bridge and along the woodland footpath to the foot of Ceann Creige. Good terrain and ice-hardened ground enabled a swift walk to its top and on to the impressively cairned Beinn Duirinnis. A steep descent northeastwards into the shadowy Lairig Duirinnis was rewarded by a sunny ascent of Beinn Phlaicaig South Top and its even more interesting lodged-boulder summit then on to the main top and the two Beinn Mheadhonach tops. Getting cold now so returned down the west flank until we reached a fence and parallel deer track that helped us back down to Blarcreen. Great walk taking about 4.30 hrs. | summitter | 04/01/2022 |
| Plenty of tarmacked parking 75m SW of bridge over Blarcreen Burn, providing access to what appears to be an unused gate. There is a vague path opposite side of road through woods which fades at boundary with open ground. No clear and obvious path to follow so basically picked easiest route of ascent around various crags tending to the left and north of spur. Unfortunately missed opportunity to bag the minor tump - Ceann Creige. Very warm and sunny September day, minimum clothing required. No midges but summit cairn covered in swarm of flies. | With Jenx from road bridge to west. Up the fine grassy rake above the burn to 200m. Choice then of taking the ridge direct or continuing on the traversing line above the burn to col between two hills. Easy to top from here. | A very cold day with recent lying snow and high winds made us choose this hill rather than higher tops. A delight. Ascended from Inveresragan over minor top at 478m.
