Nuttall walk 13.4 but a few changes. Slightly more direct route to Fan Frynych after reading the notice board by the CP. Also visited the Fan Fawr trig point and out and backed Y Gyrn from Storey Arms before walking along the Taff Trail. With RDan Baddeley28/08/2023

12.2 miles 2615ft walk, start at Blaen Llia Forest car park, follow Beacons Way to Fan Llia, Fan Frynch and Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad, then accross moor to Fan Fawr onto the Trig Point, down to Yastradfelte Reservoir Dam and back over bottom of Fan Llia to car park.stephenbuda05/03/2023

Parked at small car park near just off hirwaun road at end of beacons reservoir, lovely walk past reservoir then up hillside onto ridge, no visible path up hill until ridge, follow ridge to summit, across to trig, return on same path all the way to stream crossing and through short section of woods back to car park 140minsTribal2er16/02/2023
Start @ Storey Arms Car Park, cross road and go up & back to Y Gyrn, follow Beacons Way to Fan Frynych via Craig Cerrig-gleisiad, turn back to rejoin Beacons Way heading down to Fan Llia before doubling back once again this time joining the Cambrian Way and then a track to Fan Fawr, quickly bag the Trig Point near Fan Fawr before heading back down to start point.lboutside28/01/2023
From the lay by on the A470 near the youth hostel 97142 22237 Nine mile route over Fan Frynych, Craig Cerrig-gleisiad, Fan Fawr and Y Gyrn with 2700ft of ascent and taking Four and half hours. Returning via the Taff trail and a permissive path.WAYNE ROWLETT22/01/2023
From busy parking area but I was the only walker heading west. Up and down same way.Nick Canute09/10/2022
Solo from Craig Cerrig-gleisiad. Dreary trek across moorland, thankfully dry underfoot. Mist initially but soon cleared making navigation straightforward. Direct ascent of north face of Fan Fawr on grass (very steep), descent via contouring path back to the moor. Erosion on the steep uppermost part of the path made for one or two awkward moments on the descent. Lovely views to the west and not another soul in sight or sound.forsterfamily702/09/2022

Parked at Beacons Reservoir and hiked up to Fan Fawr then Craig Cerrig-gleisiad and Fan Frynych. Then back to Craig Cerrig-gleisiad and around Fan Fawr on the Beacons Way.SootAndShale22/05/2022
Climbed from Storey Arms car park, along with subsidiary tops. No clear path until close to summit.southern_rambler26/02/2022
Peak - 734m. Hike Stats: 8km; 3 hours; 379m ascent. Very bad weather. Looped round peak, then called it a day as visibility very poor.complicatedaussie12/02/2022
Across frozen boggy ground from Craig Cerrig-gleisiad then straight up steep grassy slope directly to the summit. A quick detour to visit the trig point then steeply down to the Storey Arms. Solo.Dangerous Dave28/11/2021

From Storey Arms; then to 2 Hewitts to N.IanHHill04/10/2021
Fan Fawr and Fan Llia walk, parked at the Pont ar Daf car park. Not the most stunning scenery, and a bit boggy, but it benefits from a much lower number of people than adjacent Pen Y Fan, and there's a very nice cliffside walk on the Beacons Way up Craig y Fro.JazDisney22/08/2021
Early morning hike from the lay-by at GR971 222, up the steep incline to Craig Cerrig-gleisiad and across the boggy moorland before another steep incline up Fan Fawr. Then returned by heading directly to The Storey Arms and following the Taff trail back. Gave my feet a refreshing dip in Afon Tarell before a final brief incline back to my car at the lay-by. Great way to start the day!Gerry the Ranger19/07/2021

Spring Bank Holiday 2021. Planned to do Pen Y Fan but crowds put me off so decided to climb the one opposite, Fan Fawr. Did it in a loop via the west bank of Beacons Reservoir. passed a max. amount of 10 people in the whole 3 hrs!dazedemon31/05/2021
Circular hike from Storey Arms - Bryn Du - Fan Fawr (cairn marker and trig point) - Bryn Penwyn-uchaf - Cwm Dringarth/Ystradfellte Reservoir - Fan Llia (cairn marker) and following the Beacons Way to Fan Dringarth - Cefn Perfedd - Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad - Craig y Fro - Storey Arms. From the car park at the southwest corner of the Beacons Reservoir, south a short distance along the A4059, then northwest on the path which runs up the hillside and then around the edge of the escarpment, to the summit cairn.Mariana Trench20/09/2020
Parked in uncrowded layby 1/2 Km west of Storey Arms Centre as car park there over flowing along roadside verge. Seems odd that people planning to haul themselves up to Cribyn can’t manage a few extra yards to park properly. Anyway, I beat a path straight up to summit from Storey Arms, then turned north west to skirt river feeding resevoir. South along Beacons Way brought me to Fan Dringarth and then Fan Llia. North, back along Beacons Way, I detoured briefly to the white trig of Fan Frynych, and then on round to Craig Cerrig-gleisaid. Detour worth it for great views of the crags and Cribyn and Pen y Fan. Continued along Beacons Way to complete this circuit. Sunny, but very windy day.Pete West18/09/2020

Explorer leader hill training weekend. From Storey Arms to the trig and Fan Fawr summit before circling around and crossing Nant Pennig to return to the minibus. Overcast and blowy. Little did we know this would be our last hill outing for sometime....richard6915/03/2020
Parked by Beacons Reservoir and approached summit from the south. Very windy on the ridge, hailed and snowed on the way up and sleeted briefly on the way back, but sunshine in between. Descended to Storey Arms and took the Taff Trail back to the car.clyoung01/03/2020
Clear morning but snowy on the way up and the top, which added to the fun . Slippy on way down but great views across to Pen y Fan.D SID29/01/2020

Fan Fawr, Corn Du, Pen y Fan & Cribyn. Started from 'lower' CP - walked up to Storey Arms CP, then a quiet ascent of Fan Fawr & on to trig - return to Storey Arms & on to Corn Du & Pen y Fan (now not so quiet). The continuation to the fine looking Cribyn was fairly quiet.ger15/04/2019
Was to be part of a bigger walk but very windy and wet - also realised boots were no longer waterproof so called it off with very wet feet.atreides788721/12/2018
