13.5 mile walk from Llanfrynach. From village along well signposted Three Rivers Ride and another footpath to Rhiwiau farm, then onto Cefn Cyff ridge fairly easily onto Fan Y Big. From here we followed nice footpath along Bwlch Y Ddwyallt, then across to Waun Rydd plane wreck and followed plateau around to Carn Pica cairn and featureless Waun Rydd summit, then descending on easy grass with gentle ascent onto Bryn (first time bagged) followed footpaths back to village. 861m ascent. Perfectly clear, sunny and all round very dry. Saw quite a few people.DanTrig18/04/2021

Departed Llanfrynach taking Cyff ridge to Fan-y-Big (719). Followed the summit ridge around to the east to take the Gist Wen spur back down to Llanfrynach. Thick hill fog above 200m, with snow and ice patches above 400m. Temp between 0 & 3degC. Visibility ranged from 30-50 meters for 90% of the walk. One brief break in the could/hill fog revealed a stunning view of Corn Du and Pen-y-Fan's summits above the fog layer.Butty02/02/2006

Approached the Beacons from the south this time, and at the third time of asking there was a clear view, though under leaden skies. Climbed up to Graig Fan Ddu from the Lower Neuadd Reservoir. A superb ridge walk, climbing gradually to the summit of Corn Du and then Pen y Fan. Didn’t linger – there were a lot of very large groups out today, far more than I’ve ever seen in Snowdonia. Enjoyed the descent and re-ascent to Cribyn, which last August I saw in ghostly mists. A similar drop and lung-tearing climb to Fan y Big, where finally I had a summit to myself. Gentle descent over the grassy hillside to join the Roman road leading to the Reservoir.peter4lc05/07/2003
While staying in Brecon, set off from car park to N underneath Allt Ddu. Ascended the N ridge to the summit of Pen Y Fan which surprisingly we had to ourselves. Wandered over to Corn Du & then back bypassing the summit to traverse Cribyn & finish on Fan Y Big. Then back W to join the track at the col down to the road & then back W on the RoWs to the car park.NotReallyABagger03/11/2002
